That was a bit of a snoozer. Need more tire deg there. DRS seems too artificial there and SPA.

Most exciting part of the race.

Overall comments

Mostly a snoozer except the late pit with photogs having to dodge a race car.

Someone mentioned yesterday that woman expert they have chime in now. She may be an expert but I cannot understand her. And they need to turn up her microphone. It goes from very clear males talkimg to hard to hear/understand woman. I have no problem if I could just hear and understand what she’s saying.

Max got the short end of pit call however he was classy about it post race. HAM would have bitched about it all day so it was nice to see Max understand it happens and was just timing not team.

HUL held up cars for most of race but kudos to him for hanging on as long as he did. They used the only strategy they had but no red flag happened.

I noticed several cars go 2 wide in corners yet the inside car never hit the other one unlike yesterday when the Merc hit Max. They all understood what their car was capable of and navigated wisely.

I think they need to degrade tires more to make this a better race. Tires are too good, witness the Haas car going whole race with one set (until mandatory late stop). Also, I’d like to see a rule change that if you start from pit lane you don’t need to change tires in race.

Imagine if they still had fuel stops how much more exciting it would make racing and strategy.

If I recall the Miami race was really good last year. Lets hope.

I love Gunther when asked if his driver was holding others up amd said his driver was behind Ocon and to be fair in reporting. Love when they have him on he said it with a chuckle too.

What happened to Mag on his stop he seemed to lose positions compared to others. Slow? Or maybe he didn’t and I just lost track.

I'm not disagreeing with you necessarily but the safety car forced teams to pit early and then for most of the field it was a tire management race. A little bit like Australia.

I do think high deg races are generally more interesting but sometimes when the racers are hot lapping lap after lap on tires that don't degrade it can create some entertaining races. This race was unfortunately right in the middle of those scenarios.

KMag going off literally one lap before getting a free pit from the safety car for once is such a HAAS move.

Can't win for losing.

she's from Northern Ireland. If she was standing in your living room you would still need subtitles

Hey, she could be Scottish and from Glasgow. Then you wouldn't be able to understand a single word. I agree that her mike levels are too low which is a shame because she offers great insight.

I hope we get Brundle back. He's only 64 but it seems like he has health concerns.

Like Gunther said, it was Ocon holding everyone up. Of course if Hulk had been in front of Ocon, then it would have been Hulk holding everyone up.

I used to think this too, that tires should not be effective for a whole race. I posted an article in this thread about Michelin not being interested in F1 right now because of the artificial degradation being forced on Pirelli. I agree, we shouldn't degrade technological advancement and blame the tires for the lack of action. The blame goes to the rules that make passing hard in F1. The way I see it, the way to improve the racing is to implement some combination of:

1. Refueling. This will naturally lead to more strategies and stickier tires that don't last as long.
2. Significant reduction in downforce, with an emphasis on cleaning up the air coming off the back of the car.
3. Take a step back with the brake technology, and use spec brakes. The extremely effective brakes reduce passing in the most critical passing area, the braking zone. While philosophically similar to forcing tire degradation, I find it more palatable because it affects everyone evenly and it's not really visible to fans.

Also, I’d like to see a rule change that if you start from pit lane you don’t need to change tires in race.

Now that's crazy talk. That would give the pit lane starters an advantage over maybe the next 4-6 positions in front of them, and as we just witnessed, they would go even further up with a safety car.

F1 is going to lose fans in droves (by fans I mean the multitude of new fans) if these races continue to be processions. There are so many areas of improvement that could be made. Make the cars shorter and lighter again. Refueling again. Get rid of DRS.

Near the end of the race I found Karun's commentary a little weird. He was saying maybe Piastri will get by Yuki and snag that last point. But why was he interested in Piastri getting that point over Yuki? Yuki wasn't holding him up. Lando, Yuki, and Piastri were all being held up by the two pit lane starters. If he's just being encouraging because he wants to see the less-established drivers do well, he could have mentioned how steadily Yuki has driven this year (P11, P11, P10, P10), and Yuki needed that point more than Piastri did. I'm saying this because I feel like Yuki is finally earning his seat in F1 and maybe they should notice that.

yes

These cars are so big they don't even look fast unless looking down on them from a chopper.
