Unfortunately, Lemieux had some injuries before he retired that knocked his numbers down. The year before he retired to cancer still in his prime he scored 50 goals, so I was basing my estimate from that pace. It's certainly possible if he didn't retire early from the cancer he would have broken Gretzky's record. If he didn't have all the injuries in his 20's and cancer later on he definitely would have broken Gretzy's record.
