Certainly not Colorado's best period but they just need to keep playing their game

I would say they didn't test Vasilevskiy much that period but their goals weren't world-beaters, but much less quality shot volume in the second

This’ll be interesting. While this is one we both expected to lose as Avs fans, if we do play our best period in the third it feels like we will win this. Almost instantly puts the Lightning’s back against the wall at home.

EDIT: y’all, I’m drunk. No shite if the Avs play their best they’ll win.

I guess he works with a bunch of Avalanche and Lightning fans up there. Poor guy.

Some serious jinxy vibes from the announcers here with the 63 game win streak 2+ goals home team lead in the SCF

Yeah. He apparently got demoted for some reason. He sometimes appears on the Sportscenter postgame. But he's never on set during intermission for the biggest games anymore like he used to be. I guess ESPN spent big on Messier and Chelios. And they're going to make sure they get their money's worth. It's odd watching games of this magnitude. And he is nowhere to be found.

It’s just crazy after all these years of being literally the only analyst there, knowing he’s been waiting for this moment again. He got the rug pulled from under him

Hasn't Melrose had some moments where he was clearly on camera drunk in the past few years of a few minutes of hockey coverage?

I love the guy so it's wrong with him not being here

I think if we lose this, we go Frankie the rest of the way.

For a short time, ESPN also had Barnaby as an analyst with him. But Melrose is 65 now. Maybe he's tired to the travel. Cherry was in his 80's. And was still prominent on CBC's coverage. Maybe ESPN wanted to make a big splash with Messier and Chelios. And had to phase Melrose out. But even the best in the business eventually get replaced. And Melrose is no different.

Yep. He couldn't stay out of trouble on or off the ice.

I just got back from offshore and I’m on my 6th beer at Chimes. Not even sure who I’m rooting for. I gotta go with Tampa but I like the AVs too. They are awesome
