Maybe all the problems with RBR aren't related, but they sure seemed quick to share the solutions.
I've seen some speculation that they under-fueled both cars and basically ran them out of gas.
Not sure if Checo was classified, but if so then he will definitely get his fuel sampled and that will let us know if he had enough.

Messing with fuel levels will be penalty worthy? I hope it’s not that but it’s a good explanation for 2 cars just stopping inexplicably.

Underfueling is penalty enough.
If a car stops on track, but is classified in the final standings, it is automatically entered into full scrutineering. All fluids are checked.
Happened with Seb last year. There wasn't enough fuel left in the tank to satisfy FIA rules.
IF that is the case we will hear of it in the next hour or so.
Could also be tank design. There was also some talk of fuel pump design being faulty, but that seems really odd to fail at the same exact time when no other teams had any issues.
ETA: quick look seems like Perez was not classified. They have him as a DNF.

I think if you finish 90% of the laps, you're classified. DNF is not the same as NC.

I'm trying to see how they could bend a tie rod during a pit stop.
Baffled.
Baffled.

Gasly was the only driver not classified.

I can only imagine something with the carbon fiber, probably delaminated or something becasue of the heat.

Just finished the replay.
LET'S GO HAAS BROS!
Damn near got emotional listening to KMag's radio on the cooldown lap.

Super excited for Haas! And glad Ferrari is back.
If im RBR, im not too concerned. Despite all of the issues, they were still right there, and Mercedes couldnt keep pace with them.

They're pumped up. After last year 5th place has to be like a win for them.
And saying that, they are being realistic as Mags said after the race they essentially had a seventh place car and are looking to improve it.
Before the race Steiner said they hadn't really had time to work on setups with Mags so there is likely some improvement there.
Ferrari power is good this year so that won't be holding them back.
Things are looking good if they can keep it up.

I was thinking the same, I saw the DNF and figured I was wrong.
If there was a sample problem I figured we would have heard by now.

I sort of agree, only because there are so many damn races this year. But the Ferrari pair look to be a more formidable foe for the constructor championship than Mercedes was last year, and they have now created a massive gap in constructor points. There is a lot of prize money involved, so it definitely stings a lil bit.

And you expect that to continue with the freeze. Ferrari and Shell seemed to have gotten their shite together at just the right time. It is amazing how just changing ethanol content from 5 to 10% gave them such fits. While I understand the technical issues I had no idea it would be a real hurdle for the engineers at Merc and it isn't like they have a second-rate fuel partner.
BTW there are rumblings along the pitwall that some teams think Haas may be too cozy with Ferrari, which I understand why they might think they were too close now but something something deez nutz.

When you are trying to click on the 2022 F1 season thread, but instead click on the 2022 Nascar thread by mistake:

Curious to see what Ferrari brings to the high speed tracks like Spa, and Silverstone.
Imola and Monza will be crazy.

Is this the first season in Hamilton's career where he could end up not winning a single race? It's hard to believe, but Lewis has won a GP every season he has raced, even during McLaren's worst seasons and even in the Mercedes when they were a mid-field team before they started dominating the turbo-hybrid era. If Mercedes doesn't close the gap to RB/Ferrari, it's going to be hard to see how Lewis could beat 4 of those top drivers to win a race this season.

Lewis will grab a win this season. Merc will close the gap + good strategy calls and getting the breaks will all come together sooner than later
