Yup, they keep costing themselves point all season long. I like their boss but will he get any pressure? They did have to scramble for a driver and Mags was a great fix for then - but he was running way faster than MS until this weekend and thats odd. I don’t think MS got that much better in a race so to me Mags has slowed down. They can’t keep squandering race points week after week.

So who goes first?
Guenther
Mags
Mike

Frankly, I've thought all along that Steiner isn't the guy for team principal. But he isn't going anywhere.

The drivers are not the problem as much as it is the guys on the box. Even their pitstops are consistently slow. Like they don't give a frick about the details.

Schu's car had a suspension problem right at the start of FP1. Wasn't assembled correctly. Again, fricking up the details.

The car is good. And they look like a monkey fricking a football half the time.

I was half expecting a bad race surface and track but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Need to work on DRS zones but Miami pulled off a good race. There were a lot of trains and just a bit more DRS fixes that. But the overall race setup and track was surprisingly good. Post race was weakest part but can be fixed next year. Drivers were worn out and that was great to see. Had to work for it.

Good points they need a lot of changes in support staff.

I was more impressed with Merc closing the gap than anything. 5/6 finish isn’t bad to where they have been.

Does this tell us anything about the new formula? It is supposed to be working towards eliminating DRS.

Newbie here. I'll admit I was lured by all the pre-race coverage.

Thought it was pretty entertaining. I like the lower number of racers and the variety of the course. The tech is pretty cool as is the big event feel. More interesting than Nascar.

The fake water and yachts were very cheesy, but kind of fun.

The DRS delay in Imola showed that we might be close, but still need DRS.

I kind of like the idea of push to pass over DRS if it sticks around though. DRS might have become to predictable to defend.

The could just give a time limit for the battery packs and eliminate drs. I don't how that'd work or if it'd be worse though

A metered push to pass/DRS combination might work. Using the DRS wing but can only use it so many times per race.

They need to find a way to break up DRS trains. Those are frustrating as hell.

No doubt. Always worry about the fix being worse than the problem.

Agreed. They stall out the middle of the field and ruin the actual close racing. Once those trains started today it killed the vibe.

If they worked together to catch up to the leaders it'd be cool, but then you almost penalize the leaders and I don't know if I like that.

Watching Mags just inhale Vettel, who was behind two other cars, and then just being stuck there was frustrating.

If you could only use DRS 20 or so, exact number not important, times per race the slower car using DRS to hang onto the guy in front of him wouldn't happen which should help break up the trains.

Slower cars using DRS to boost their lap time is what causes the trains.

Not sure if it's been reported in this thread yet, but:

quote:

Alonso and Magnussen received five-second time penalties for causing collisions. Ricciardo and Alonso received five-second time penalties for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

The only difference I see in the final results is that Alonso dropped from P9 to P11. Albon gets an extra point in P9, and Stroll is up to P10.

With Alonso's 5-sec penalty, Stroll beat him to P10 by just a tenth of a second! So it's important to go all out til you cross the finish line!

Edit: Corrected information. I saw a provisional result posted by the FIA that had already applied the penalty to Ricciardo. Now I see the on-track finish. Stroll actually crossed the line in P12. With the penalties to Alonso and Ricciardo, Stroll actually went up two places! Also Tsunoda was elevated to P12, as Ricciardo dropped from P11 to P13.

I think he is doing great considering the car that he is in.

And Ocon! What a drive.

That's a HUGE leap to make and completely ignores the massive development gap that Merc had over other constructors during Lewis' years of dominance. No one was as close during those early years as Ferrari is to Red Bull right now.

Verstappen is unstoppable. We all know how good Red Bull are at developing the car in season, and we know how much Ferrari sucks with the development game.

This season is already as good as over. I just wish Merc was somehow in the mix, so that we didnt have to see Max win 12-16 races this season.
