Finally watched all of FP2 and have no clue what to make other than Ferrari/Charles have this weekend down.

Merc may give them a run in Quali, but the race pace will be Ferrari. Not sure what RBR will do. Max not getting a feel for the track has to be tough.

Those have to be two of the ugliest FP sessions in a while. The track is so meh.

Also, are Merc on the up and up? Russell is giving me flashes of Hamilton 2007. The irony is that the roles are reversed and Lewis is on the receiving end this time.

Do you guys think a well timed safety car could give someone other than RBR and Ferrari a chance at winning the race on Sunday? Maybe Lando? Maybe Russell or Lewis (welp!)

Mag's new Ferrari PU is having to be changed out as it burns too much oil according to AMuS. Looked like his PU1 was going back in.

Haas/Mag was second fastest in the speed trap from what I saw. 335kph with Max hitting 336kph.

I think the supposed issue with the track is the fact there are no support races, so there is no other rubber being laid down. Brand new, water blasted asphalt is chewing the tires until it is rubbered in leaving loads of marbles off line.

Some of the drivers complaining about bumps is comical. I watched some in cars and the track is not overly bumpy. Actually very smooth for the majority of the lap. They just want it as smooth as a pool table to remove any variable they have to account for.

Glad I'm not the only one that thought this.

The W Series (F3 cars) and a Porsche Challenge series both race on both Saturday and Sunday. That's numerous practice, qualy, and race sessions to lay more rubber down and keep the racing line clean.

That will help. Track was completely green when the F1 cars went out on FP1.

But then supposedly these pics were taken last night of turn 17.

So they ripped that section up again? You could already see where they had before from the color difference.

Sure this wasn’t the original time Thursday?

What a fricking clown.

To be fair this is the only way Lewis can stay on the F1 news cycle with somewhat positive vibes (stick it to the man) because Merc is a shitbox so far this year, and Russell is driving it better than him.

To the FIA, I say,

Tired of Ham's prima dona act. Take him up on it. Make an example of him that he's not bigger than the sport.

The twit post said it was the night before qualifying, so last night.

I can't guarantee anything, just passing along.

Although as I understand they did not grind out the track as shown in the pic for the initial fix. The black spots seen yesterday were simply a sealer/VHT style coating.

Saying all of that, I find it hard to believe they would put brand new asphalt down at the apex of a corner the night before racing on it.

Ham threatened to sit out, getting a lot of press, then it was reported he took out his fricking earrings and was allowed to race with a 2 race grace period for him to get his "welded in" nose piecing removed.

He's a petulant child.

Vettel isn't much better wearing his nomex underwear outside his driving suit.

Both have no issue expecting you to do something as ordered by the government, but push back when they are told to follow the rules.

Look forward to both of their retirements.

Hamilton won’t do it… he actually stands for nothing.

Won’t put his money where his mouth is.

This pic shows the original repair was sprayed on, not ground out.

Details in the pics seem to show both of them are of turn 17.

just watched leclerc's lap on F1. I'm not loving this track, and it's one cool gimmick isn't very prominent. to think that this was the result of countless hours of simulations and testing is depressing. It's more likely the result of a thousand shitty compromises, especially the fake water.

But it's cool. Scuderia's up yer butt, Max is prowling and Hammy is a fig.
