That was such a fun stage with many stories from the KOM fights, all the attacks in the GC group, Ben fricking Oconnor holding his own, old man strength Valverde showing the youngins how it's done and Kuss bringing one home for the motherland

That is similar but not quite as impressive as his stage win at the Vuelta last year where he put in two 390+ avg that totalled damn near an hour. IIRC he hit over 600w in one of those.
The thing that kills me about the pros is when I see the long term 300w efforts and the avg HR is right around 150.
No matter how you cut it the kid can climb.
ETA I meant to mention while perusing Kuss' Strava page he has done over 350,000 meters of climbing this year! That is about 220 verticle miles.

I did damn near 300 watts (basically on flat ground) for over 20 mins one time trying to ride with the local race team. I got dropped like a bad habit
TDF has gotten me itching to get back on the bike and back in shape. Took a long time off after i tore my bicep last august.

I promise the current peloton is not doing anything close to what was going on in the late 90's to mid 2000's. Wink wink nudge nudge

Also those Watts on a frickin mountain stage lmfao
I always say it early and often this time of year, but these are quite simply the greatest athletes in the world and it's not particularly debatable. AT ALL.
