This won’t be his last win of the year, IMO

I thought the days of packed houses at nascar races were long gone

Haven’t they been talking about struggling attendance for like the last decade?

Certain tracks, yes. But the problem is when they head out their base markets. Your going to struggle to find tickets to most Talladega, Daytona, Darlington, and tracks that level of pageantry.

Just checked tickets. Everything is pretty much sold out. I'm gonna see about going to the July race. I'm gonna bake my arse off in the July Georgia sun but I don't care. I wanna go to a race again dammit.

When did the Earnhardt’s sell DEI to RCR? Because wasn’t 8 a DEI number in the charters?

Theresa actually merged it with Ganassi and it was known as EGR (earnhardt-ganassi racing) for 3-4 years until it changed back to CGR. Pretty much dissolved into nothing after than so CGR essentially bought DEI.

So the “8” charter was actually never a thing bc the number wasn’t running by the time charters came about. I’m not exactly sure how the numbers work anymore other than I know it’s not like it used to bc now owner points are tied to charters and not numbers. I assume RCR requested the 8 after it hadn’t been used in several years and NASCAR let them have it (perhaps with CGR’s permission? Idk)

You didn’t include it in your list but finding tickets at Bristol hasn’t been a problem in 10+ years. It has gotten so bad they even stopped seating ppl in the corners, only putting them on the straights

Yeah, I assume no one owned the rights to use the no. 8 in the Cup Series anymore, so it was simply available and RCR got the rights.

Side note: When Dale Jr. drove the no. 8 car for DEI, the “8” was in the same style/font as the “3” on Dale Sr.‘s car (and the same font as is on Austin Dillon’s car now). However, RCR cannot use that font for its current no. 8 car, presumably because Teresa Earnhardt and whatever is left of DEI owns the trademark to that style of the no. 8 and will not license its use.

Bristol under the lights is one of my favorite tracks, but it doesn’t pull the crowds like the super speedways do and I can’t for the life of me figure out why people sleep over short tracks... 1.5 & 1 1/4 tracks are snooze festivals in my opinion. They need more shorter tracks, road courses and keep the super speedways. Bring back Rockingham and two races at Darlington and you have a good recipe. It all went south when they tried adding more venues in the west of the viewing market.

Darlington has two races again. They are moving the throwback weekend to the spring race.

I've heard this also.

More reason to hate Teresa.

Well I don’t think people sleep on short tracks (NASCAR has though), Martinsville always has really good attendance. Bristol’s problem is while it’s still a good race it’s basically a different track from its heyday and it’s not as good of a race as it was back then

I think we’re gonna see a race at Nashville fairgrounds within a few years.
