Ozuna was pretty terrible. A one year prove it type deal is perfect for him, try to get back on track and stay healthy to get that 3 year deal he wants next offseason.

I’d have been so mad if they gave him more than one year.

Ozuna was pretty terrible.
When healthy, he will be a huge factor. Good get for the Braves.

He hasn't been healthy for two years, he has bone on bone in his shoulder not really something you can fix. He had a minor procedure on it last year and then could at least throw the ball.
But this is why, even as the best available OF as you said, no one would offer him anything long term like he was wanting. Hence the 1 year prove it deal late into free agency, and for that it is worth as already stated.

It’s risky letting him go though too. Offense could be even worse than last year. O’Neil has trouble making contact. Thomas has been hurt. Carlson might not be ready. Bader can’t get on base enough. And the other Memphis OF’s are hit and miss. Ozuna was around 5th in the NL in RBI’s when he got hurt. He was a productive run producer when healthy.

Never really appeared that way. It isn't something that is going to get "better" just more manageable. He didn't have to a take a cortisone shot in his shoulder weekly like last year and can actually throw the ball back in now so the surgery definitely helped.
He had his worst month of the season last year in September down the stretch. No telling if that had anything to do with the shoulder wear and tear post surgery or just a slump. He missed all of July and a few more games but that was a finger fracture not shoulder related.

No his injury hasn’t/ and won’t get better without an operation that will take him out for a lengthy period of time. He’s gotten minor surgery/procedures done on it

Having him for one more year would be ideal, as Carlson may still be a year out from being ready, who knows. but losing Ozuna will not be the reason we make or dont make the playoffs. We have enough OF's who can do most of what he would. O'neill should hit 24-28 homers and play much, much better defense for us next year if hes given a full time job. Ozuna, at his best is around 30 home runs with worse defense.
Ozuna is a good guy, I liked him in the clubhouse, and hes an outstanding addition for the Braves. This isnt a cardinals lose, braves win, I think its a win-win for both clubs.

I would have rather had Donaldson, but it's hard to complain about this deal. A 1 year deal for a glaring need of a cleanup hitter worked out well. I understand he was injured last season. Dude still was a top 25 bat last in expected slugging, expected wOBA, and barrel %. He was top 15 last season is average exit velocity. He was hitting the ball very hard.

LOL
Everything i stated was 100% factual
Last season, it was so bad, that Mo'ron had to fly to hishome and have a talk to him about rehabbing and being ready for Spring training, and the season. He was not ready and had a bad shoulder, yet again to start the season.
a 1 year deal for him is perfect for a team, signing him for a multi is a bad deal.

No, he refused to rehab. He was chilling and getting fat in offseason, and like i said, Mo'ron flew to his home to talk to him and see where he was at with his rehab. He wasn't rehabbing, and then went on instagram after Mo'ron left and was pumping iron like an idiot, kind of mocking rehab.
I like the Big Bear, but he is lazy(Marlins beat writer claimed this after he was dealt to Cards), and him not being ready to start the season hurt the team.
Cardinals gave him the offer sheet for the pick, they were never going multi years, only one at 17.5, or get a pick. Had he rehabbed, been ready, i have no doubt he's back. He pissed off front office.

1 year deal is great for Braves. Any team that will give him a multi after he has a good year in Atlanta is fricked.
He's a good club house guy, so he'll fit in immediately.

Before 2019 season, front office had high hopes for him. He was coming into contract year, was going to rehab, get shoulder healthy as he could, prove he deserved a multi year deal, like many players do.
Then he pissed off Mo'ron, and he was pretty much playing himself out of next years plans.
And id' take
Ozuna 1 year >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Donaldson 4 years

Mets hired our manager 3 weeks before spring training and it’s still an upgrade from Mickey Callaway who loved to sub out Alonso for defense when up a run in the 7th
