I think the Gibson and Lyles signings pave the way for Rendon

Have your rotation set in Minor, Lynn, Gibson, Lyles, Allard

They have an ok rotation, not one i would trust but probably good enough. Minor is due some regression though.

Oh I'm definitely not saying its trustworthy or a great one but I think the FO has now justified themselves to spend money elsewhere

Lyle was really good in 11 starts last year.

I’m really liking this rotation for the money that’s being shelled out.

The top 3 guys are really nice deals I think. I like Gibson and wanted him for Houston if we were going to spend any money.

I’m still kinda skeptical on Allard as he’s been inconsistent his whole career through the minors but still he’s a backend guy for you

Yeah hopefully he makes some progress this season. I believe he is still only 21 or 22. He had some flashes last year and even started striking some guys out and that was supposedly the weak part of his game.

Yeah I know his velocity ticked up once he came over but I’d read that it had come and gone throughout his pro career. If it stays up he could be very good. Texas made some some nice deals getting guys like Solak/Allard who were kind of extraneous on some really deep clubs but are good players.

Will be interesting if Solak starts the year as the 2B or if they give Odor last shot. Odor was better at the end of the year, but still wasn’t great. Elvis also had a poor year after a great start.

If we get Rendon, him, Elvis, Odor/Solak and Guzman I’m assuming will be the IF. I’m also going to assume that a Rendon signing moves Josh Jung to 1B down in the minors.

Jung was decent in the minors last year and performed well in A. I doubt he gets a call up next year, but if he keeps performing you never know.

Gallo, Deshields I guess and Mazara probably still in the OF with Choo switching off DH days.

Not a spectacular lineup, but if there is somewhat some progression finally from Mazara and if Gallo continues what he did last year we may be in the hunt for a WC if our bullpen isn’t fricking awful.

The Royals have signed hard-throwing right-hander Trevor Rosenthal to a minor league deal, per Lynn Worthy of the Kansas City Star. The deal will pay $1.75MM if he makes the team with an additional $2.25MM in performance bonuses, per MLB.com’s Jeffrey Flanagan.

The Gerrit Cole sweepstakes is moving to the point where teams will be making initial offers in the coming days, sources tell ESPN. The three favorites remain the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers.

The pace of negotiations for Gerrit Cole is TBD. It could move very fast. It may well hit a snag. A lot depends on the initial offers. But know this: Teams recognize that there is a very strong market and that showing the depth of interest with a strong first offer is favorable.

I’m only defensive because you refuse to give him his due. He has been a solid starter for two years now.

I’ll agree with you he isn’t a legit ace, but he is a top 2 guy in a rotation.

I think you’re just butthurt we’ve been to a WS more recently than the yanks have so you discredit anything about us.

Right-hander Junior Guerra is in agreement with the Arizona Diamondbacks on a one-year deal that includes a club option, sources tell ESPN. @KyleL_Brewers was first with the details.

He is a solid starter, however, this season was probably an anomaly.

7 years for 245 million

quote:

I'm told #Yankees have a seven-year, $245 million offer on the table for Gerrit Cole. Would be a record-setting contract for a pitcher, surpassing Greinke s $34.4 million AAV. Question is whether #Dodgers or #Angels will go to 8-9 or even 10 years.
