About the biggest "wtf" moment I have ever seen live in a race.

Just a weird race. Delayed from Sunday to Monday afternoon due to rain. Delayed from Monday afternoon to primetime Monday night due to rain. Like a three hour delay in the middle of the race due to Montoya jet dryer incident. Ends at like 3:30am EST Tuesday morning.

Weather doesn’t look promising. Be a miracle if they can get this race in.

During the 2012 Daytona 500, which was run on a Monday night after being rained delayed, Juan Pablo Montoya was running nearly full speed while the race was under caution to catch back up to the rest of the field after a long pit stop for repairs. As he was driving down the back straightaway, his car broke and he lost control spinning into the jet dryer. The jet dryer is powered by a surplus helicopter engine and therefore holds jet fuel. Montoya hits it, causes huge explosion, sets portion of turn 3 on fire causing a 3 or so hour delay while they got the fire out and cleaned up the track.

NASCAR's Air Titan is their best development over the last 15 years. They made the cars worse, but made track drying better.

The Keslowski live tweeting it was almost as good as JPM blowing up the jet dryer.

I don’t watch much nascar and just happened to be watching that race as that happened live. It was all so confusing at the time

They used boxes and boxes of Tide to clean the track and I think they had to patch a section as well since the fire melted the asphalt.

They were able to race on it, but they patched it after that race and ultimately repaved a portion of turn 3.

Tide made a commercial out of the crews using Tide to clean the track.

I have a feeling we aren't going to be racing very long. There are more popups to the south/southeast of Daytona, moving northeast.

Maybe the threat of rain will prevent much single file racing.
