State teams went 4-3 last night.

LSU had a rough first half at Arkansas and couldn't catch back up in the second half losing 90-99 at Arkansas. Skylar Mays scored 28 to lead the Tigers who also got 16 points from Emmitt Williams and 14 points from both Trendon Watford and Javonte Smart in the loss. LSU drops to 20-10 overall and 11-6 in the SEC.

Louisiana Tech was able to hold on to beat FIU 76-73. The Bulldogs had four double figure scorers in Amorie Archibald (18), Kalob Ledoux (16), Derric Jean (12) and Daquan Bracey (10). Louisiana Tech improves to 21-8 this season and 12-5 in CUSA.

In one of the two in state match ups, Nicholls jumped ahead early and ended up with a 80-56 win over McNeese. Five Colonel players hit double digits in the scoring column including Andre Jones (16), Dexter McClanahan (12), Elvis Harvey (11), D'Angelo Hunter (11) and Kevin Johnson (10). The Cowboys got 25 points from Shamarkus Kennedy however he was the only double figure scorer in the loss. Nicholls is the only Southland school to be done with their regular season slate and they finish at 21-10 and 15-5 in conference. McNeese drops to 14-16 and 9-10 and will play their last regular season game on Saturday.

In the other in state match up, Northwestern State also rode a big halftime lead into a win beating UNO 95-73. The Demons got double figure scoring efforts from Jairus Roberson (19), Jamaure Gregg (15 & 10 rebounds), Trenton Massner (13) and Chudier Bile (10). Troy Green scored 21 to lead the Privateers who also got double figure scoring efforts from Bryson Robinson, Jahmel Myers and Jaylen Key who scored 12, 11 & 10 points respectively in the loss. Northwestern State improves to 13-15 overall and 10-9 in SLC play while UNO falls to 8-21 and 4-15.

Southeastern got a win over Central Arkansas 69-65. The Lions were led by Ty Brewer's 19 points & 10 rebounds, Brandon Gonzalez's 16 points and Maxwell Starwood's 15 points. Southeastern is now 8-22 on the year and 5-14 in the Southland.

We have two more games tonight. Schedule below.

Thursday March 5th
Southern vs Texas Southern - 7:30pm
Grambling @ Alabama A&M - 7:30pm

Just as a recap to where each team stands at the moment:

After tonight, all teams except for ULL, ULM & Nicholls will have one game left in the regular season.

ULM's season is over. ULL will make the Sun Belt Tournament as an eight seed and have to play starting Saturday. Nicholls is waiting to see what their seed will be in the Southland Tournament. I believe they will be three seed unless Abilene Christian loses on Saturday which would make the Colonels a two seed. Someone correct me on that if I'm wrong.

Anyways, that's where we stand. Good luck to all teams. Records, standings & NETs updated in OP.

Nicholls says they also would get the No. 2 seed if Sam Houston or Central Arkansas wins Saturday because of tiebreakers. The former is playing at Stephen F. Austin so it's highly unlikely but the latter could easily happen. That would be massive for the Colonels because they'd be automatically in the tournament semifinals.
