Teams in action last night were 1-2.


Louisiana Tech got a win at home against Rice by a score of 72-56. The Bulldogs had four players reach double figures in the scoring column including Daquan Bracey (15), Derric Jean (13), Kalob Ledoux (11) and Mo Muhammed (10 & 10 rebounds). Louisiana Tech improves to 13-4 this season and 4-1 in CUSA.

ULM lost by a single point at home against Texas State falling 63-64. Tyree White was the leading scorer for the Warhawks with 16 points and Michael Ertel and JD Williams each scored 15 points but they came up just short. ULM falls to 6-11 overall and 2-6 in the Sun Belt.

ULL fell behind early against UT-Arlington and never caught up losing by a final score of 65-81. The Cajuns got 23 points from Jalen Johnson, 11 points & 11 rebounds from Tirus Smith and 10 points from PJ Hardy in the loss. The Cajuns drop to 7-12 on the year and 2-6 in SBC play.



There are no games tonight but everyone is in action tomorrow except for Northwestern State. We also have another in state match up tomorrow as McNeese heads to Lakefront to face UNO. See weekend schedule below.

I would say the Cajuns need to fire Marlin after this season and just hire some young, hungry guy for half of the stupidly high $500k current salary.

But his buyout is too damn high as well. This is the one decision Maggard made as AD that I hate. Fortunately, I really don't care about the sport of basketball, but I'd rather see half of Marlin's current salary go towards something more useful, like assistant pay for football or baseball.

I agree it's time for a change with Marlin.

As a season ticket holder for basketball, I disagree with taking money away from program


I thought I had heard that the increase in pay he got last year actually lowered his buyout, but I don't know if that was correct or not.

Not the best weekend overall as teams in action went a combined 4-7.

We'll start with the wins.


LSU won on the road once again beating Ole Miss 80-76. Four Tigers were in double figures including Javonte Smart (20), Emmitt Williams (17), Skylar Mays (15) and Marlon Taylor (13). LSU improves to 13-4 on the season and remains undefeated at 5-0 in SEC play.

Nicholls had a big second half and came back to beat Central Arkansas 79-72. The Colonels got big scoring efforts from Elvis Harvey who scored 24 and Andre Jones who scored 20. D'Angelo Hunter also added 11 points in the win. Nicholls now sits at 12-7 on the year and 6-2 in the Southland.

In an in state match up McNeese went to New Orleans and got a 65-52 win over UNO. Shamarkus Kennedy led the way for the Cowboys with 21 points & 14 rebounds and Dru Kruxhausen added 18 points in the win. The Privateers got 27 points from Bryson Robinson and 16 points from Jaylen Key in the loss. McNeese gets to .500 overall at 9-9 and 4-3 in SLC play while UNO falls to 6-12 and 2-6.

The last win of the weekend belonged to Southern who got a 75-56 win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Jags had a trio of double digit scorers in Ahsante Shivers, Damiree Burns and Micah Bradford who scored 18, 16 & 11 respectively in the win. Southern is now 5-12 this year and 2-3 in SWAC play.

Tulane couldn't keep up in the second half against Tulsa as they lost 54-67. The Wave got 15 points from KJ Lawson, 14 points Teshaun Hightower and 10 points from Christion Thompson in the loss. Tulane drops to 10-8 on the season and 2-4 in the AAC.

Louisiana Tech made a big push in the second half but ultimately lost at the buzzer to North Texas 50-51. Amorie Archibald was the only double figure scorer for the Bulldogs as he had 17 points in the loss. Louisiana Tech is now 13-5 overall and 4-2 in CUSA play.

ULM suffered a 58-78 loss to UT-Arlington. Tyree White scored 18 and JD Williams had 14 points as they were the only Warhawk players to reach double digits in the loss. ULM falls to 6-12 on the season and 2-7 in the Sun Belt.

ULL lost to Texas State 59-68. Jalen Johnson scored 18 for the Cajuns who also got 11 each from Dou Gueye and PJ Hardy in the loss. The Cajuns drop to 7-13 on the year and 2-7 in SBC play.

Southeastern lost on the road at Abilene Christian 55-76. Byron Smith and Maxim Romanov each scored 10 points as they were the only Lions to reach double figures in the loss. Southeastern now sits at 5-13 overall and 2-5 in the SLC.

Grambling fell to Prairie View A&M 57-64. The Tigers got 14 points from Travon Bunch, 11 points from Trevell Cunningham and 10 points from Ivy Smith, Jr. in the loss. Grambling drops to .500 over at 9-9 and is now 3-2 in SWAC play.

It was a SWAC Monday and teams in action went 1-1.


Southern won their third straight game winning at Mississippi Valley State 74-70. Four of the five starters for the Jags were in double figures including Darius Williams (15), Ahsante Shivers (15), Micah Bradford (14) and Amel Kuljuhovic (11). Southern improves to 6-13 this season and gets to .500 in conference at 3-3.

On the flip side, Grambling lost their third straight game falling to Texas Southern 61-68. Ivy Smith, Jr. had 14 points for the Tigers who also got 10 points each from Devante Jackson and Trevell Cunningham in the loss. Grambling falls to 9-10 this year and is now .500 in conference at 3-3.

Alright, I was out of town yesterday so here's an update of the last two nights. Tuesday night was a 1-0 night and last night teams went 2-3.


*Tuesday, January 21st Results*

LSU was able to hold on to edge out Florida 84-82. It was a balanced effort from the Tigers with six players in double figures including Emmitt Williams (19), Skylar Mays (18), Trendon Watford (14), Javonte Smart (13), Marlon Taylor (10 & 11 rebounds) and Darius Days (10). LSU improves to 14-4 overall and remains perfect in SEC play at 6-0.

Last Night (Wednesday, January 22nd) Results*

Nicholls beat Houston Baptist 91-83. Five Colonel players were in double figures led by Lorenzo McGhee's 20 points and Warith Alatishe's double double with 16 points & 11 rebounds. Dexter McClanahan and Elvis Harvey each scored 14 and Kevin Johnson added 12 points in the win. Nicholls improves to 13-7 on the season and 7-2 in the Southland.

McNeese went to Hammond and got a 77-61 over Southeastern. The Cowboys were led by Shamarkus Kennedy, Dru Kruxhausen and AJ Lawson who scored 26, 19 & 14 points repectively in the win. The Lions got 17 points from Maxwell Starwood, 15 points from Ty Brewer and 14 points from Byron Smith in the loss. McNeese now sits at 10-9 on the year and 5-3 in SLC play while Southeastern falls to 5-14 and 2-6.

Northwestern State came up short against Stephen F Austin losing by a score of 62-69. Chudier Bile had big night for the Demons scoring 26 points but he was the only double digit scorer in the loss. Northwestern State drops to 7-10 overall and back to .500 in conference at 4-4.

UNO had the halftime lead at Texas A&M-CC but ended up losing a back and forth game 71-74. Four of the five Privateer starters were in double figures including Jaylen Key (14), Bryson Robinson (13), Troy Green (11) and Charles Bohannon (10). UNO falls to 6-13 this season and 2-7 in the Southland.

Louisiana Tech was the only team in action last night and they picked up an 80-73 road win at Middle Tennessee. The Bulldogs were led by a big night from Mo Muhammed who scored 22 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. Derric Jean, Daquan Bracey and Kalob Ledoux also put up double digit scoring efforts with 15, 14 & 13 points respectively in the win. Louisiana Tech is now 14-5 overall and 5-2 in CUSA play.



There are no games tonight but every state school is in action tomorrow including three in state match ups taking place in Lafayette, New Orleans and Natchitoches. See schedule for this weekend below.

Teams in action this weekend combined to go 7-5.

LSU played yet another close game at Texas and were able to hold on to get a 69-67 win. Trendon Watford led the way for the Tigers with a game high 22 points while Skylar Mays and Javonte Smart each added 10 points in the win. LSU improves to 15-4 overall and obviously remains 6-0 in the SEC.

Louisiana Tech also picked up a road win 72-58 over UAB. Kalob Ledoux scored 17 and Daquan Bracey had 12 as they were the double digit scorers for the Bulldogs in the win. Louisiana Tech is now 15-5 on the season and 6-2 in CUSA play.

In the first in state match up of the day, Southeastern was able to go to Northwestern State and edge out a 84-81 win in OT. The Lions were led by Ty Brewer's 20 points, Von Julien's 16 points and Laquan Butler's 13 points in the win. The Demons had four players in double figures including Jairus Roberson (18), Jovan Zelenbaba (14), Brian White (11) and Nikos Chougkaz (10 & 11 rebounds) but came up short. Southeastern is now 6-14 on the year and 3-6 in the SLC while Northwestern State drops to 7-11 and 4-5.

McNeese hosted Houston Baptist and got their sixth straight win 102-89. The Cowboys got a huge game from Shamarkus Kennedy who scored 37 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. AJ Lawson, Roydell Brown and Trey Johnson were also in double figures with 23, 12 & 11 points respectively in the win. McNeese improves to 11-9 overall and 6-3 in SLC play.

Tulane traveled to ECU and couldn't overcome a slow first half losing by a score of 62-81. The Wave got 19 points from Nic Thomas, 14 points & 13 rebounds from Christion Thompson and 12 points from Teshaun Hightower in the loss. Tulane falls to 10-9 on the season and 2-5 in the AAC.

Grambling lost their fourth straight game at Jackson State 53-71. Ivy Smith, Jr. scored 14 points and was the only double figure scorer for the Tigers in the loss. Grambling drops to 9-11 on the year and 3-4 in SWAC play.

Southern was able to win their fourth straight game 80-71 at home against Alabama State. The Jags had five players in double figures including Darius Williams (14), Amel Kuljuhovic (13), Brendon Brooks (12), Isaiah Rollins (10) and Montese Blake (10). Southern now sits at 7-13 overall and 4-3 in conference.

Southern was the only team in action last night and they picked up a 67-46 win over Alabama A&M. The Jags were led by Micah Bradford's 13 points and Lamarcus Lee's 11 points in the win. Southern has now won five games in a row and sits at 8-13 overall and 5-3 in SWAC play.

LSU won their ninth straight game beating Alabama 90-76. All five of the starters for the the Tigers were in double figures led by Emmitt Williams' 23 points & 11 rebounds and Trendon Watford's 17 points & 15 rebounds. Skylar Mays scored 18 and Darius Days & Javonte Smart each had 12 points in the win. LSU improves to 16-4 overall and remains undefeated in the SEC at 7-0.

Tulane dropped their fourth straight game losing to USF 52-66. The Wave got 18 points from Christion Thompson and 11 points from Nic Thomas in the loss. Tulane drops to 10-10 this season and 2-6 in AAC play.

The Demons were led by Chudier Bile's 20 points, Nikos Chougkaz's 13 points & 16 rebounds and Jamaure Gregg's 12 points in the win. The Privateers had four players in double figures including Jahmel Myers (18 & 12 rebounds), Bryson Robinson (15), Jaylen Key (13) and Gerrale Gates (13) but it wasn't enough. Northwestern State improves to
8-11 overall and 5-5 in conference play while UNO falls to 6-15 and 2-9.

Southeastern had a rough second half at Central Arkansas as they lost 68-88. Pape Diop and Von Julien were the only players to reach double figures for the Lions with 13 & 12 points respectively in the loss. Southeastern drops to 6-15 this year and 3-7 in the SLC.

I'd also just like to spotlight Shamarkus Kennedy for McNeese right now.

The last nine games he's averaging 20.4 PTS / 11.8 REBS / 3.3 BLKS and shooting 70.3% from the floor. Guy is on a tear.

McNeese fans, hope you guys are supporting the team. They look like they are starting to put it together.

ULL lost at Texas State 66-71. PJ Hardy was the high scorer for the Cajuns with 16 points and Mylik Wilson had 15 and Jalen Johnson scored 12 in the loss. The Cajuns drop to 9-14 overall and 4-8 in the Sun Belt.

ULM suffered a road loss at UT-Arlington falling 54-68. Tyree White had 11 points and Michael Ertel scored 10 as they were the only Warhawks players in double figures in the loss. ULM has now lost eight straight as they fall to 6-15 on the year and 2-10 in SBC play.

McNeese hosted Lamar and ended up falling 91-96. The Cowboys got big efforts from AJ Lawson who scored 25 points and Shamarkus Kennedy who had 19 points & 14 rebounds. Trey Johnson added 12 points and Dru Kruxhausen scored 10 points but it wasn't quite enough. McNeese drops to 12-10 on the season and 7-4 in the Southland.

Northwestern State had a double digit halftime lead but couldn't hold on as they lost at home to Central Arkansas 71-79. Chudier Bile and Trenton Massner were the high scorers for the Demons as they each had 19 points. Nikos Chougkaz had a double double with 11 points & 10 rebounds and Jairus Roberson had 10 points in the loss. Northwester State falls to 8-12 overall and 5-6 in SLC play.

In the only in state match up of the weekend, UNO went to Hammond and got a 84-73 win over Southeastern. The Privateers had four players in double figures including Bryson Robinson (28), Gerrale Gates (17), Troy Green (14) and Jahmel Myers (11). The Lions got double digit efforts from Ty Brewer, Nick Caldwell and Von Julien who scored 24, 13 & 10 respectively in the loss. UNO gets to 7-15 this season and 3-9 in conference while Southeastern falls to 6-16 and 3-8.

Southern kept their winning streak alive with a 93-82 win over Alcorn State. The Jags got 26 points & 11 rebounds from Lamarcus Lee, 27 points from Micah Bradford and 10 points from Amel Kuljuhovic in the win. Southern has now won six straight and sits at 9-13 overall and 6-3 in SWAC play.

Grambling was able to get back in the win column as they won a low scoring affair 49-47 at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Travon Bunch scored 13 and Ivy Smith, Jr. had 10 as they led the way for the Tigers in the win. Grambling is now 10-11 on the season and back to .500 in conference at 4-4.

Grambilng was the only team in action last night at they cruised to a 90-65 win at Mississippi Valley State. The Tigers were led by a pair of double doubles from Travon Bunch (23 points & 11 rebounds) and Ivy Smith, Jr. (19 points & 10 rebounds). Devante Jackson and Kelton Edwards each chipped in with 12 points in the win. Grambling improves to 11-11 overall and 5-4 in SWAC play.
