Last night wasn't a bad one as teams in action went a combined 4-3.

In our first in state match up of the year, Tulane beat Southeastern 76-55. Jordan Walker scored 24 to lead the Green Wave who also got 18 points from Teshaun Hightower, 13 points from KJ Lawson and 10 points & 14 rebounds from Christion Thompson in the win. The Lions had only one player in double figures and that was Ty Brewer who had a big game with 17 points & 14 rebounds in the loss.

Louisiana Tech opened their season with a road win over Texas A&M-CC 82-49. The Bulldogs got a balanced scoring effort with four of their starting five in double figures including Daquan Bracey (14), Kalob Ledoux (13), JaColby Pemberton (11) and Derric Jean (10).

Northwestern State played their second game in two nights and came up short at Texas A&M 63-77. Nikos Chougkaz was the only Demon to reach double digit points scoring 12 in the game. Northwestern State is now 1-1 this season.

McNeese was on the road to open their season and fell to Western Michigan 65-75. The Cowboys got really good efforts from AJ Lawson who scored 21 points & Sha'markus Kennedy who had 15 points & 10 rebounds. Dru Kuxhausen also added 10 points for the McNeese in the loss.

Grambling beat East Texas Baptist University 102-70 to open their season with a win. That's all I can tell you about this game as I cannot locate a box score.

Also, if anyone has any affiliation with Grambling could you ask them to put game times on their schedule? It's a pain in the arse having to go to their opponents website to find out game times.

Lastly, Southern got a win over Loyola (NO) 87-70. The Jags were lead by Ahsante Shivers, Darius Williams and Amel Kuljuhovic who scored 18, 16 & 15 points respectively in the win.

There are no games tonight.

Really nice to break the 21 game losing streak. No one is going to burn the house down after a win against Southeastern, but Tulane doesn’t look bad. Definitely bigger and more athletic than last year.

Yeah. From afar it seems like there's more talent in the program than there has been in a while. Depth of talent at least.

Overreaction/hot take to early action on the season (SLC specific):

Nicholls is going to run away with the SLC and SLU will be lucky to get 5 wins. I have been impressed with Nicholls, even losing to LSU.

Didn't see this til just now.

I agree about Nicholls. What they've shown in their first 5 games looks like a team that could definitely compete for the SLC title.
