huh? i am from deep south and we still always got playoff hockey here. i watched the 1987 cup here. where ronnie hextall won the conn smythe is a 7 game losing effort. Atlanta flames games were on WTBS here in late 70's. we had ECHL hockey here for over a decade as many as 3 teams here in lousana alone! we still have hockey in lafayette SPHL louisiana icegators. same name as our old ECHL franshise. baton rough kingfish had pierre mcguire coaching them here.

The closest hockey to Columbia, SC for me was either Raleigh or Atlanta.

We had the minor Columbia Inferno here for a few years but they moved away when I was young. Atlanta moved away a few years later and I never cared much for rooting for Atl-based teams.

Again, not that hockey fans don't exist in SC, but they are very, very few and far between.
