The rumor on Karlsson is now that the Caps are interested in him in a three-way deal involving Vegas. The parts disclosed are Karlsson to DC, Vegas eats Bobby Ryan's terrible contract in exchange for getting John Carlson, and DC gives the usual picks and prospects to Ottawa. Still a long way from being real.

Blues with a white flag trade of Stastny. Great job getting a first rounder of it. Also like to see Winnipeg making hay while they can.
So far, though, the biggest news of Deadline Day is Matt Murray leaving practice with an injury. Pens are huge favorites in the Metro right now, and about the only thing that can derail them is Murray getting hurt.

im still surprised st. Louis is writing off the season.
1 pt back from a wildcard (which would give you a first rounder series vs VGK or WPG/Nashville, certainly not favorable), but five points back of 3rd in the central.
3rd in the central would get you wpg or Nashville anyways, I guess st. lou feels they cant contend with these 3 toptier west teams and just said frick it

in a world where rick nash returns a 1st round pick, Winnipeg did pretty good using one to acquire Stastny .
plus he is UDFA after this season so st. lou gets some return.
