Maryland has looked impressive.

Great game for the Terps, they just looked so superior to Duke today.
I'm no lacrosse expert and I don't get to watch Duke too much but Amato made Wigrizer look like he belonged in a different level of competition.

It's public knowledge now that he missed early morning fall practices. Danowski said it during an interview with Inside Lacrosse, and basically he didn't give him traditional punishments because he didn't think they would work. Instead, it was a lot more psychological stuff, and both thought they worked better.
I am extrapolating a bit on the hungover stuff, but I do know for a fact that both Danowski and Pressler before him would excuse players from morning practices if they tests before 11 AM or papers due in the morning, especially in the fall. That was a standard practice under Pressler who was much more demanding on the players than Danowski. And I knew a couple of guys pretty well during the Danowski transition. Both said he was less demanding and his punishments were not as harsh in a physical sense.
So he was missing practices for non-academic reasons and non-medical reasons and got punished. Either he was too hungover or he is the deepest sleeper in the world
I know which option I am going with.
As for the game, Maryland deserved it. They shut down Wolf for the most part, had great offensive posessions that milked the clock, and they were able to basically equal Duke on ground balls and face-offs. Well done to the Terps. I hate saying that.

I love this time of year. College lax is the shite

Like I said, Maryland for the championship. As much as it pains me to predict it

I wasn't sure about Loyola at the start of the tournament. I had no problem with them getting the No. 1 seed based on their regular season, because they had the best resume, but I thought it may have been a fluke and that they wouldn't be able to get through the NCAA tournament gauntlet. They have more than proven their worth in this four-game stretch. They are clearly the best team in the country, which I'm not always sure is the case (see UVA last year). Congrats to them.

And we are about to welcome the 9th team to win a D-1 men's lacrosse championship.

They get up for the big game, and in typical Maryland fashion, choke in the title game.
How's that for a prediction that reflects years of experience of watching Maryland lax. The Terps losing today was pre-ordained. Memorial Day is for barbeques, honoring the vets, and the Terps losing in the national title game.
The Terps have now lost the title game NINE times, just about once every five years in the sport's history.

I think they've won twice, right?
Posted on 5/28/12 at 6:51 pm to Keys Open Doors
Twice. Last time was 1975. Had no idea the drought was that long.
Posted on 5/28/12 at 7:37 pm to Buckeye Fan 19
I'm perfectly aware of the length of the drought. It sucks.
Posted on 5/28/12 at 7:51 pm to Baloo
As much as it sucks, at least they got there these past two years. They really had no business to, when looking at the entirety of their seasons.
