It is the biggest fraud moment in sports besided the Russian Gold Medal in Olympic Basketball

The rule was very clear in the NHL rule book at the time. You cant score a goal if you are touching the crease. The NHL reviewed the goal, clearly seeing Hulls skate in the crease, and allowed it

Then, they put out a statement saying prior to the playoffs, they sent out a private memo to teams saying the rule was changed and you could be in the crease

They couldnt produce the memo and nobody in the public or media has ever seen it. That shite would cause a meltdown today

If you do not like Mike Modano you can get fricked. Dude played the finals with a broken wrist.

Love that guy.

Imagine this

LSU vs bama in the natty

We are in OT. Bama catches the game winning TD pass. However, replay clearly shows Bama's recevier had his foot on the out of bounds line

They allow the TD anyway, and NCAA releases a statement saying "before the playoffs, we send out a memo saying WRs are allowed to land on the line and still be considered in bounds"

And imagine nobody being able to produce that memo

Poor Buffalo. The Bills had just been screwed in the playoffs too a few months earlier, then this, then the Music City Miracle all within the same year.

There is screwed, and then there is stuff like this

I still remember this happening. The NHL mentioned the memo going out at the start of the season, and then reporters were like "Why wasnt this made public? And why were similar goals still disallowed all throughout the season AND playoffs?"

And the NHL was like "frick it, there aint social media and this is hockey. People will forget. YOLO"

It was honestly a learning lesson for me as an 11 year old. You can be completely fricked over and cheated in life and nobody really cares

Actually, if a player possessed the puck, he could be in the crease. Hull possessed the puck. The rule stated if a player on the attacking team did not possess the puck, he couldn't be in the crease, gather the puck and score. Good Goal!

This. Hockey is strong here for a southern city.

Compeltely wrong according to the rule and interpretation in the 1999 season

Well they basically did something like this in 2011, 2017, and were most definitely going to do it again this last season had Bama not won the SEC championship game.

But that’s a different topic.

I like MM but he has nothing Steve Yzerman playing on that jacked up knee. It was in his 19th year in the league too.
