I was just talking to my co-worker about this game. He's a Texas fan, and I predicted Texas St. beats Texas this weekend, and becomes the new App St.

one of the greatest upsets in college football history

It is the greatest. There have been many upsets after that were maybe more improbable, but up to this point none are more prominently memorable than that one.

By point spread, it wasn't even the biggest upset that season. Stanford/USC was.

A horrible Pitt team completely stuffing a great WVU offense in Morgantown was the most shocking thing I watched that season. There was no universe where I ever expected that team to be held to single digits with a spot in the national title game on the line.

Don't forget the blatant cheating the entire game trying to get WVU the win and they just couldn't take it.

IMO that game was Karma coming back for LSU after all the blatant cheating pulled by the SEC in the 2006 season.

Saban and the REC buying the best rosters starting in 2008 with a blind eye turned by the NCAA began the decline and NIL/portal transfer rules was the death blow. Anyone who thinks he bailed for any other reason is a fool.

Yes. Of course.

Before NIL, Saban and Alabama were the only ones in the entire NCAA, and especially the only ones in the SEC buying athletes.

Now excuse me while my driver takes me to my bank to check on my $50 Billion, then have my helicopter pilot fly me to my smaller mansion, so my butler and I can work on cookie recipes for when Santa Claus passes on Christmas Eve. The Easter Bunny is going to help us taste test a few batches.

Saban didn't want to quit coaching... he tapped out because it became an even playing field.

Funny how the advent of NIL and the transfer portal just happened to line right up with his retirement, huh...?
