How is the bracket formatted? Is it a true double-elimination or the 2-sided consolation bracket?

I've never been a fan of the consolation-style bracket because it doesn't allow for any error. You lose the first game and you have no chance of fighting through the losers bracket.

It is not true double elimination. If you lose once, you can't win the championship. That's how this tournament has always been.

Sunday features the consolation bracket game, third place game, and championship.

Let’s give the Blue Jays more love, they redeemed the St Jude loss last night in a 20 point blowout, and they have some kids that can legitimately score the ball. They’ve beaten St Jean Vianney 2 of the 3 times they played as well so being seeded 3rd is confusing.

Update:

CHS defeated St. Theresa by 3 points in a back and forth game which was a classic 4 vs 5 matchup.

St. George cruised to a victory against St. Alphonsus winning by over 20 points.

CHS will face St. George in the semifinals on Saturday.

The other first round games will take place on Saturday as well.

2. SJV vs 7. St. Thomas More - Every team has had their up and downs this season including the Gators. Their size continues to be a matchup nightmare for most opponents. The Eagles can make a game ugly with their aggressive defense. They are hard nosed and a team that is not fun to play against.

Surprised SJV is a 2 seed. We used to be able to name the score on them back in the day. What a program turnaround.

It's a shame Mardi Gras fell when it did. Basketball season's momentum was lost during the break. I'm guessing most teams didn't practice or had a bunch that weren't at practice. Also, all of the baseballers are full fledged into baseball season.

Speaking of baseball, how will it affect things this weekend? As serious as the baseball parents take it, will some be out for baseball? At minimum, some kids will be doing both this weekend, so there may be some heavy legs by the end of the weekend. Especially for catchers.

OLOM went two and out. Got physically man-handled by MBS, then lost on a buzzer beater to STM.

CHS v St George
SJV v MBS

Consolation - St Theresa v STM

Eliminated - St Alphonsus, OLOM

SJV beat MBS
St Theresa beat STM

So championship will be St George v SJV. 3rd place game is Catholic v MBS.

Congrats to St. George on winning the Elite 8. They defeated St. Jean Vianney 36-18 in the Championship Game.

They were the preseason #1 and #2 teams and also were seeded #1 and #2 in the tournament.

It was a great weekend of basketball with #6 seed MBS defeating #4 CHS in the 3rd place game. #5 St. Theresa beat #7 St. Thomas More in the consolation bracket championship.

#3 seed Our Lady of Mercy and #8 seed St. Alphonsus each lost both of their games.

The CSAA history thread has been updated.

Great season and looking forward to next year.

Congrats to the dragons on a fantastic season. Also congrats to my alma mater SJV for making it to the finals. Long ago that would've never seemed possible for us.

I heard admin had to grease the light poles over on St. George Dr. to keep the fanatics at bay last night.

What happened to Mercy? They started off the season as the surprise team of the season. Made it up to #1 in the rankings in early Jan. Played really well and beat some good teams. Did teams just figure them out? Anyone get hurt? They seemed to be running on fumes down the stretch.
