3. MBS (4) - Has been playing very well but had a loss to St. Theresa.

4. CHS BR (3) - Slow start, but finished runner up in Sacred Heart Tournament. Tough week this week with SGS and SJV on back to back nights.

5. St. George (1) - Some tough close losses early, but should bounce back this week.

8. St. Aloysius (5) - Lost some key players from their 7th grade team, but defeated some bubble teams before losing to CHS in Sacred Heart Tournament.

Anybody sitting on the second night of the back-to-back due to load management? I need to know before I contact my bookie...

Not likely. Smaller 8th grade class this year means smaller roster. They will have to gut it out. Bet accordingly.

I have a couple questions about this ranking:
1)How does St Theresa beat MBS yet they’re still ranked ahead of them And how does MBS rise in the ranking after losing 2 games this weekend?
2)How is SJV still 2 when they got their asses beat this weekend.

OLOM also won the Geo Prep Academic Magnet tournament in mid December. Went 4-0 and that included Southern Lab and South Baton Rouge.

How the Hell did you whiff so badly on my BlueJays in the preseason rankings?

Sister Philomena mojo must be happening at the new Sister Ruth Palace for Hoops Excellence this season..

just fyi, i'm the parent of one of the 8th grade OLOM players and also stay pretty updated on the other 8 or 9 teams, so if you ever want to cross check scores or confirm anything, feel free to let me know.

MBS has some impressive wins over other ranked teams recently. The loss to St. Theresa has them behind SJV for now.

They lost to #1 OLOM and a very good Parkview team. They have good wins over some ranked teams that have them at #2.

More parity this year than I have seen in a while. Feels like just about anybody 1-7 can beat each other.

MBS's first loss was on a half court buzzer beater against a good Episcopal team.

Theresa is legit. Beat MBS a second time on their home turf and MBS now has the injury bug with some key players out. Will likely have them slip down the rankings mid-season but may have everyone back by E8 time.

Don't know what games they saw. Yes they lost pretty bad to Parkview (who ended up winning the tournament and beat Mercy pretty bad btw) they are still playing really good ball and remain one of the best in CSAL.

With SGS not being impressive at all so far (2nQ at SJV), them at 5 still seems a little high. I'd probably swap them and Theresa but everything else seems pretty accurate at this point in the season.

No love for the schools from the Westside??

I'm in town visiting family this week and got a chance to watch my nephew play last night. He goes to St. John in Plaquemine, they hosted #2 ranked SJV. First off, SJV certainly passes the eye test. They are HUGE! Looks like they're a really good team to me. It's obvious they've played a lot of ball, experience showed.
St. John put up a heck of a fight despite being outmatched! SJV towered their players at every position, but St. John never backed down. They are a scrappy, physical team that was NOT scared one bit. Seems really well coached too. They had SJV rattled early as the game was tied after 1 quarter. SJV then took a 7 point lead into half. St. John hung around for a bit in the second half, but SJV's size eventually took over. SJV ended up winning by 14.

It's been many years since I watched a CSAL game in the BR area. Last night's game was exciting!! I'm happy to see good basketball is still alive and well, even in the travel baseball world today!

SGS Tournament weekend. Loaded field but the star of the tournament will be the icee machine SGS has in their concession stand.

St Theresa fixing to skyrocket up the next rankings. Have beaten #1, #3 (twice) and #4 this week alone.

I snapped a pic of the poor bastard assigned to work the icee machine at the end of the night on Saturday.
