I think coaches will soon regret the new 12 team playoff. Previously, 1/2 of to top coaches won there last game. Soon, 11 of the 12 playoff coaches will lose their last game. All of the conference champs, but maybe 1 will lose the last game. After that, coaches will start to get fired for not winning in the playoffs, regardless of regular season. Big money, bitchy fan base. Ought to be fun.

Sonny Dykes, Ryan Day, and Jim Harbaugh are in absolute no danger of being fired.

Yea this is a bad take. If anything you'll have 8 additional coaches getting bonuses for making the playoffs.

If a coach get fired after making the playoffs he'll take his bonus, his buyout, and the dozens of job offers with a smile on his face.

No coach is going to get fired because they lost a playoff game.

If anything the playoff should be expanded to 16 or 24 like any other sport in America. Why does FBS football continue to be the outlier.

It’s simple. The organizing body that they are apart of doesn’t actually have a system in place to name a champion in the league. They outsource it.

Because it's far more physical than any other team sport

The problem with FBS playoffs is the number of games. Currently, the max a team would play is 15 and that will go to 17 when it expands to 12 teams.

Right now the FCS has a 24 team playoff, yet the max games a team can play is 16. 11 game reg season, no conference playoffs, and 4-5 games in the playoff. Also, all of the games with the exception of the finals are played at home stadiums, drastically cutting down cost.

I would love to see the FBS go to more of a FCS type playoff system with a 12 game reg season, no conference playoffs, and a 16 team playoff with all playoff games leading up to finals in the home stadium of the higher ranked team. Make the regular season really matter.

It will never happen due to the loss of conference revenue in losing conference championship games as well as the current situation of each conference individually welding more power than the NCAA as a whole.

Because there is far less parity at the top of the sport then most. There are only 10-15 programs that even have the resources/prestige to field a NC caliber team and usually 2-3 at most elite teams any given year.

Quite the opposite. And they’ll be first in line clamoring to expand it again when the next contract runs out.

You don't think Ryan Day feels heat if he makes a 12 team playoff and gets flushed again? Maybe not Dykes, or Lane Kiffin.. If BK makes it the next 2 years, and loses loses in round 1 both years, this site will go nuts. Wait for it.

maybe we should also cancel March Madness, since 63 of 64 coaches lose their last game.

Let's cancel NFL playoffs too, since all but one coach loses their last game.

Good lord.

I wouldn't say that is true. There are some programs with VERY high expectations.

However, no one give a shite if a coach wins the Liberty Bowl or not. The decision to fire/not fire a coach is made at the end of the regular season. Not after the bowl games. If a coach is going to be fired he's going to be fired before the bowl game. Generally that decision is already made by the time the final regular season game kicks off.
