If most media and MSBers think non conference champion 11-1 Alabama gets in the CFP over conference champion 12-1 Oregon, then non conference champion 12-1 LSU absolutely gets in the CFP over conference champion 12-1 Oregon, right?

Thoughts?

12-1 Oregon is 100% percent lock to make the playoffs. However that figures in to your confusing OP.

I don’t think there is any way LSU is out if they win the next two and lose to Georgia. Would have by far the best resume of one loss teams. Conference championship winner is a tie breaker when teams are close. In this case no one loss conference winner is anywhere close to LSU Resume.

The Tua injury will likely keep Bama out.

LSU won't have a loss when the season is over.

Bama won’t get in without tua. They could have gotten in based off eye test being one of the clear top 4 teams had they had healthy tua. Imo With the backup QB the committee will not be convinced.

Well I mean, except Georgia since they would’ve beaten LSU

Georgia is assumed in at that point. I was talking about Oklahoma and the pac 12 winner mostly.

For LSU to be a non-conference champion 12-1 team that’d mean we lost to UGA in the SECCG so they’d be in.

Final rankings after conf championships would hopefully be:
1 Ohio State (13-0) BIG10 champ
2 Clemson (13-0) ACC champ
3 Georgia (12-1) SEC champ
4 LSU (12-1) SEC runner-up
5 Oregon (12-1) PAC-12 champ
6 Oklahoma (12-1) BIG12 champ
7 Alabama (11-1) ...not close to getting a playoff bid

Conversation around putting LSU in at 4 rather than Oregon would be the common opponent of Auburn who LSU beat and Oregon lost to and the number of quality wins LSU had compared to Oregon. Committee would also look at scoring margins in the conf championships. LSU would have to keep it close and Oregon would have to struggle in their win over Utah. LSU would also have a heisman QB which could play in to discussion

ETA. In this scenario to LSUs benefit with Oklahoma/Oregon it could end up a tough decision like what happened to Baylor/TCU before big 12 had championship game where they couldn’t decide which to put in so they just kept both out and ranked them 5 and 6 to avoid controversy

Georgia is essentially playing a home game for the SEC championship also. something that should be taken into consideration.

the premise is wrong.
Attaching it to the person makes dispassion more challenging for some.

Its about discovery.
He did say if.

Stadium is a 50/50 split. I’ve been to that game multiple times.
They’ll be a shite load of LSU fans, maybe more than UGA

Even with a loss to UGA LSU should be in with best resume of anyone. However it would be much easier on the mental if Utah beats Oregon and Baylor bests Oklahoma in the rematch. Argument would be LSU/Utah and id hope we win that one.

If LSU loses to UGA and gets left out then the system is a sham. Eye test, best resume in the country, best loss and heisman winner. Theres no logical argument that LSU gets left out if only a loss to UGA.
