SCC is (was) the best course layout in Shreveport.

They should have leveraged their Haynesville lease bonus to make the course better but the owners at the time just took the money and ran.

I mean Augusta National basically has the same thing, it's just well concealed.

Fact is, these old school smaller city country clubs are sort of dying institutions. Probably has a lot to do with this in general:

The reason for that is, golf is an expensive hobby. Courses are getting more expensive, due to maintenance and various other reasons.

In Shreveport proper or the area? I think Olde Oaks is the best layout personally. They let the greens go to crap last time I was there, but of the 27 holes they offer, very few are poorly layed out. Stonebridge was better than SCC imo too. I personally hated the set up of SCC. You're either hitting up or down on approach shots. Basically built in a ditch.

Very sad to see a AW Tillinghast course go away ... It's like throwing away a piece of art from the Smithsonian.

I wouldn't want to pay to play in the ghetto anyways.

Not in the Dfw area. Every public course here is on the "speed play" because so many people are playing. And there are 100s of courses here.

I'm just a weekend golfer not a world renowned golf course aficionado, but I'm going to side with a Tillinghast design over a Hal Sutton pitch and putt.

I love the elevation changes of SCC. Also, the amount of doglegs and used of creeks helped it stay playable despite modern equipment. Place was sweet when it still had bent grass greens. The maintenance of SCC and Olde Oaks the last 5 years has been deplorable.

That's how East Lake is here in Atlanta as well, great course but the fricking ghetto surrounding it
