The jersey wearers put their stamp on this tour.
Grimay showed he still has the pop and dispatched Jasper's hopes for green.
Tadej illustrated he can put time into Jonas at will and looks good in yellow and allows Vingegaard to keep the polka dots warm for him.
Evenepoel in white reminds Jonas he can't forget to look behind when he is focused on Tadej.
Crazy stage. There seems to be lots of excess energy in the peloton even after 17 stages. Tomorrow's lumpy stage may be much more interesting than I thought given what is coming Friday and Saturday. I predict much more chaos before Nice and I am lovin' it.
I'll say it again: Free Lance. At least what he was shooting up had terrestrial origins.

Amen.
I'm very curious what the hematocrit is for these guys right now, compared to Lance, Ulrich, Pantani, and some others. If they aren't huffing Xenon or something that stimulates RBC production but is out of the system in hours, and if the hematocrit is similar to riders in the past, then what is making the difference? Is it as simple as ketones? Better feeding? Just the normal growth in a sport as time rolls along? Pogacar is literally on another level right now. Jonas is amazing and he's still getting left behind.

I just can't buy any of that. Human time to distance records just don't drop like that. Compare the men's marathon numbers, they have dropped only about 7% in 50 years where Tadej beat Pantani's juiced record from 25 years ago by 10% and noone has touched Pantani since then except Pog. Note the marathin record came down in small increments steadily over time. It is simply too big of a jump that we aren't seeing anywhere else in "mature" endurance sports. The only way Pog and most if not essentially all the peleton isn't riding dirty is if what ever they are on just technically isn't illegal now. Riding a GT in the peleton is a superhuman feat breaking out of it and riding like you have a 500 watt motor in your bottom bracket is and always has been the stuff of engineered humans or aliens, take your pick.
I understand the people that take a moral stand against doping but if every one of the old riders that complain about PEDs had to take a 100% accurate lie detector test before they could complain the silence would be deafening. If Lance hadn't been so egotistical to come back to the Tour and start his downfall rolling he would be sitting on The Move everyday chopping it up with George about how much faster they would have been if they had just doped.

Probably true.
I don't really care about PEDs but I would be pretty pissed if they were putting motors in bikes.

LeMond and some others have shown how easily very small motors can be put into frames and with even a small battery it can allow you to add more than enough watts for more than enough time to ride away from others. I know in the past they would disassemble bikes, but I don't know why they can't run each of them through an xray every day.
There's a story about Contador and suspicion of motor doping at the Giro.
L'Equipe's chief cycling writer Philippe Brunel claims that Contador hadn't actually punctured when he changed a rear wheel with Ivan Basso after the descent from Aprica on stage 16.
Having been dropped initially to change his wheel, Contador got going again and sped past everyone to finish third, nearly three minutes ahead of Fabio Aru. Basso, meanwhile, was able to put in Contador's wheel and continue without waiting for the team car, according to Brunel.
Going on to explain: "Contador tells of how Basso had given him his wheel. But the Italian should have finished, logically, at the edge of the road with the wheel in his hand (according to Contador, because of a nail, as Oleg Tinkov posted that night on Twitter in a photo), but he resumed the route without waiting for your technical car."
“I truly believe that motors were used to win bike races” - Greg LeMond

I'll never feel bad for Lance. The guy was such a major dick that he eventually reaped what he sowed and probably should have even reaped worse considering the way he treated anybody who dared question him.
Jan is a guy I felt bad for with how it ended for him as a professional cyclist.
Speaking of bad mojo, Visma would probably do well to burn that butt ugly kit they've been wearing. Jerseys that look like a grandma's upholstery can't be good for the soul.

“I don’t have any fear of the titties anymore. I am comfortable on the tittie bike.”
Pog just now in his pre race interview. Obviously he was saying TT as in time trial looking ahead to Sunday but with his accent it gave me a cheap early morning chuckle.

Lance said yesterday that Pog needs to also play the politics game and not do "unnecessary" attacks when there's all this doping chatter going on.

Thankfully it's a different time and probably helps that Tadej is likable. I don't see him getting loudly booed in yellow like Michael Rasmussen.
I still think that Jonas would be matching Tadej if he'd come into the Tour fully trained.

I let out a cackle when Lance said Johan was his "partner in crime...some would say, literally"

To be fair we didn't know he was a prick until people told us. Most fans loved him and even the French liked him and they barely like their own riders.
Jordon is clearly and a-hole and if we ever got really under the veneer (if he had a fall from grace) I bet the stories would be crazy. Guys like that just tend to be super pricks. Yes, Lance bullied people but in the end it is my opinion that while they may have felt "forced" to stick those needles in their arse everyone of them could have walked away. They weren't chain up in the team bus. They also knew every other team was doping they just didn't have the best stuff and cycle.
Even if Jonas and Pogi aren't the enforcer I guarantee someone on the team is and they are fully aware of what is going on.
All that said I can understand why people hate Lance, it is perfectly reasonable.

Since Pogacar has this thing well under control, for the sake of drama, there are some things going around X right now, some sort of inside info on Pogacar and UAE. There is some "inside" source, Mou, where information comes from. These were posted somewhere and then brought to X.
There was someone on reddit that claimed to debunk stuff. I honestly have no idea what's what, just dropping it off for conversation.

Would a person close to Pogi say otherwise?

Absolutely perfectly said.
Also anyone catch the M&Ms being handed out between the squads today? Was pretty cool.
This however shows the devastation of coming so close to a life long dream as a non GC rider

Excellent post. I defend Lance but I totally understand why people hate him. He doped, he was a prick, but the dude could ride a bike faster than all the other dopers too. I grew up watching him win so I'll always be a fan.
