So my auto insurance went up to the tune of 50% annually. No accidents, no nothing. I call the broker agent I've been using and he claims everyone's went up across the board. Quoted me safeco, progressive and national all at the same rate.

All you having the same sort of experience or is this b.s. and I need to switch brokers/agents again? It's only been like 2 years. Usually it takes a little longer before they start screwing me on the rates.

I've always been given the advice that you switch every couple of years.

Mine didn't go up this much. I have Allstate and have for the last 3-4 years. Just waiting for them to try something and might switch back to Progressive.

See all those lawyer ads on TV? See all those billboards?

Connect the dots.

While that is true when you average all 64 parishes, it's not an accurate statement.

If you are around the greater New Orleans area and surrounding parishes you will pay more because the soft tissue industry here drives up claim costs. Outside of New Orleans the premiums are dramatically lower

I'm an agent in Mississippi and our rates are going up big time over the year across the board. Losses were huge more last year than any other year ever.

I have an agency in bama but write some biz in LA.
Haven't experienced any rate increases...

GEICO has great rates in LA right now.

Shop widely.

Get new broker first.

Dont live in louisiana. My insurance is about the same. I increased coverage. So i cant offer examples but 50% seems unlikely.

Went up 50% with Safeco. Switching to National General which will be 25% less than Safeco...prior to the rate increase! Shop around.

National General is buying up all sorts of the market.
I have written nearly 70% of my auto through them in 2016, and I write through nearly a dozen carriers.

Was at $280 per month for 2 cars with above average limits and liability. Went up to $320 per month about 6 months ago, called my agent last month and since I have been with Liberty Mutual for 3 years with no accidents or tickets, I got my insurance down to $199 per month for both cars with the same limits.

Haha. No doubt. Not leaving Louisiana anytime soon unfortunately. Already hit up a different broker and he's working on it.

Ours went up about 15% being at a 3 rating on the 1-16 insurance scale. Shopped it with 3 other companies through the agent, not enough cost difference to change and current carrier has better coverage at that price point. No wrecks or tickets, but had 2 windshields replaced last year due to awful ongoing road construction/debris flying. Some of it has to do with replacement parts of new vehicles getting more expensive, we also have a ton of illegals/foreign drivers who probably can't even read road signage, uninsured drivers, device addicts and terrible traffic.
