Don't have any position in crypto at all, but was listening to Tom Lee the other day and he mentioned that bitcoin has a little bit of risk pertaining to quantum computing that eth doesn't have.

I personally think that when they introduced options, etfs, etc is what killed some of the momentum. You no longer have a market where to be invested you can only purchase the single standalone asset.

True zero? Probably not since shite like this always hangs out with SOME value. Penny stocks and all.

How many penny stocks have over a trillion dollar market cap and over a hundred million owners (worldwide)?

But 90-99% lower than here? I think it's probably 75% chance that happens in the next 10 years.

I try not to never say never but I will say this - if that happens, we're going to see economic circumstances nobody wants.

My point is simply that if you are saying LITERALLY ZERO, I'm not committing to that. But it could effectively do that by going down to a billion market cap or whatever.

Neither of the factors you list there are relevant whatsoever to it not having any intrinsic value.

Nah. It's not the stock market. It's fake money.

There’s an open mkt order for 21m coins at 0.01 so it technically could not hit $0

Speaking of all this nonsense. what is the current estimated breakeven mining cost? $70K? $80K?

Serious question: what happens if miners just stop mining?

What's the intrinsic value of gold bullion? Fine art? Hell, what's the intrinsic value of the USD?

It was closer to $100k a few months ago, and electricity isn’t getting cheaper.

Bitcoin is such a wild animal of an asset. Im invested in it so this sucks but I’m also interested in how this unfolds

It’s going to zero. Whether it happens in two years or twenty, it will eventually end there. It’s the most speculative asset investors have ever seen, and despite the white papers and the morons that continually pump its intrinsic value, it’s a tulip. Cut your losses.

It will replace treasuries and gold as the foundational monetary layer on earth.

No chance. Aside from it being an absurd concept, there are too many powers/forces that will never let it happen.

This drop is making me lose confidence not just in crypto but in stocks or any other asset period. Basically all markets in general.

I understand the lack of intrinsic value argument. But did we just decide that in the last week as a society? This is Black Swan territory. There’s not even a hint of support. We all just collectively decided that we’re done with it.

At this point I’m riding to zero.

What's the intrinsic value of gold bullion?
Probably in the mid-to high hundreds of dollars as an industrial metal.

quote:

Fine art?
Actual scarcity of something that cannot be reproduced. Having said that, I wouldn't invest in it at these prices.

quote:

Hell, what's the intrinsic value of the USD?
A printing press and the most powerful military in the history of civilization.
