Because uh uh let me be clear, you didn't build that, someone else built those roads you travel on to make money.

theres your problem....if you had kids everyone else would pay for you. adminstration pushing for more kid write offs with day care and pre-k school.

fyi - i'm in the boat with you.

They can go and pass a trillion dollar bill and print it out if nowhere

What does my little $30,000 contribution mean… not a damn thing.

Taxation is theft

I can't help you for your 2021 taxes, but next year I'll be a good friend and do my part to alleviate your tax burden. You just figure out what income level you need to be at to avoid paying any taxes and then tell your employer to cut your pay to that level and send me the difference. They can 1099 me and I'll pay what would have been your taxes out of my own pocket because that's just the kind of guy I am.

It really sucks.. I'm a little older now, make good money, forced to take standard deduction bc I have no others, kids are grown and on their own... At least when my kids were younger my marginal tax rate was ~10%.. now it hangs around the ~25-30% rate.. It's criminal.

ETA- It really sux to see what a lot our tax dollars are going towards.

Psychology of taxes

You are paying taxes. You know how the saying goes.

You are just now "netting out" how much you still owe or are owed.

Congratulations for not making free loan to the government - the way it should be done. Just hope you used that money in 2021 to earn you some money before giving it to them.

here's my problem - when someone is claiming kids they pay less tax. kids are a choice so why is tax rate reduced for someone that chooses to have a kid? Biden always talking about paying fair share then why give discount to someone just for having a kid?

Rewarding and incentivizing poor behavior by people who get wayyy back more than they put into the system. It is infuriating

even with two kids and mortgage I still fall under the standard deduction. i don't buy/sell stocks and do not own a business, not may extra deductions to have for us.

Might wanna bypass your “representatives” directly and ask the Fed and the Treasury this question.

Taxation without representation is INDEED theft.

exactly my point. it always has been the policy and they are trying to further increase possible deductions. what if those with kids paid the same (aka fair share) as those without out then it seems we (gov'ment) would have more tax revenue or maybe everyone's tax rate could go down since everyone is paying the same.

yes there are credits for endless things but I can't come up with a logical reason someone should get tax credit of any kind for simply having a child.

I mean I'll never have a kid because that sounds absolutely miserable but we need to sustain the birth rate or things are going to get pretty ugly when we are older - so I get it why there are incentives.

imagine all the millennials in 30-40 years. we will not have a younger population to take care of them as they're aging

suicide will be at all time highs.

using the same logic - I don't and won't be having kids therefore I'll need more money to pay to be taking care of which then means I need a tax credit every year to save up to be able to afford said care. To add to it I pay a school tax that I don't and won't use.

if people need incentive to have kids then just change the standard deduction to include 2 kids worth of write-offs and then everyone wins as we are all equal just how its preached nonstop that we should be.
