Just because they give you a high limit doesn't mean you have to immediately max it out.

You got a traditional American express card, which you have to pay off every month, its quite common for it to be that high.

I just graduated last year and they upped my limit to $21k or something on just one card.

I have just over 700 on FICO. I've been dinged recently for checking home loan rates and cosigning loans for the little lady for school.
Edit: Just checked the site. I have $21,900 limit with 9.24% APR.

Similar story for me. Have over 750 score and they wouldn't raise my limit to $12k when I asked. And it's not because I don't use it. I make almost all of my purchases with it each month.

That was just one of the couple of suggestions about my scores. Recently open accounts, etc. Whether it really affected my score I can't say.
