Petty as hell, but I hate the term “side hustle”. It’s a second or part time job. Sometimes I hate the internet
The term I hate the most is “house hacking”. You’re renting an extra bedroom or two out, or buying a duplex and renting half of it out while living in the other half. This has been a thing for decades. It’s not a new thing.

Posted on 2/14/20 at 9:05 pm to CheEngineer
value trading stocks i guess if were counting stuff that only makes a couple grand a year.
ive also been known to resell clothes. the lorde and taylor 5th avenue closing sale was a winner.
then i do web design and hosting as well. im trying to become a better salesman and marketer in general dor my day job.
I would love to get some consulting going as well but i think that puts me in conflict with my day job too mucb

Got my real estate license about 2 years ago and it’s been awesome. Takes up very little time and has provided some excellent play money.

I’ve thought about doing this when I see clearance items at stores. I was just wondering were do you find your items that you wind up selling.

I don't know how well this will apply to other areas of the country, but in SW Fla there are a ton of snowbirds, so I'm about to start up a home watch service.
No real overhead and not that tough of work....unless a hurricane is coming.
I already have a pest control company and a lot of my customers always are asking about who I'd recommend to check on their property every few weeks, so time to finally take advantage of that.

Retail arbitrage. Flip from discount retailers like Marshall's, Burlington, Ross, TJ Maxx. Been doing so for about 5 years. Extra couple of hundred per month, but I love apparel/footwear, so I have a knack for it.
Doesn't come without work though and I love apparel/footwear, so have a natural knack for it. I walk past people in the store all the time trying to search stuff on their phones and I grab the pair right in front of them, because I know what will sell. I have 6 spots on my commute home from work. Hit them at least twice a week and then a few hours a few nights a week for photos. Handle packaging & shipping in the AM before work. Sent my wife an I to Cancun 2 years ago and family to Disney this year on flip money.

Don’t have a side hustle because I don’t even have a primary hustle since my back is too bad. But if I had to have a side hustle, it would be painting Disney wall murals (or any other type of animated characters). I only do a wall mural every 5 years or so now when I can muster the energy, whereas I did around 15 or 20 in my earlier years. I’ve always done them for free for my relatives or my own kids, but I’m guessing I could charge $1,500-2,000 since they take 50-100 hours. Or at least that’s what I’d have to charge to make it worth my time.

How do you do real estate and make money without it taking up a lot of time? Serious question here, my wife has her license but the time involved was killing her.

Beertending and painting. Love the cash jobs!

Wife and I used to buy and resell vintage items and antiques. Then we started refurbishing and repurposing furniture and other items. Then we started making furniture. We got pretty good at it and it was fun to go to auctions, estate sales and such looking for stuff. Our best year we sold about $22k and made a small profit, but I guess it was more of a hobby. Then the wife got pregnant with twins so we shut all that down. Now our side hustle is trying to raise twins in our 40’s.
