. SCOTUS is only considering this narrow application?
They're only considering if the IEEPA can be interpreted to allow tariffs.
It's not a case about the larger authority of the executive with statutes that clearly authorize tariffs.

Will the ruling invalidate the trade deals?

No he chose a statute that doesn't reference tariffs and has never been used for tariffs, which is why the tariffs are being litigated.
LMAO. We all know why they are being litigated. TDS.

I doubt the Supreme Court would invalidate these tariffs exclusively due to TDS, and it appears it's more likely than not the tariffs are invalidated due to the admin using a statute that the court determines doesn't authorize tariff power.

Would love this this to cause all other countries to pay back tarrifs they charged us for over the years. 4 d chess. That is in the neighborhood of TRILLIONS
You seem to be under the impression that SCOTUS rulings apply to foreign governments in their own soil.

Not sure I covered all of of it.
First I said, “I would love it”. Not that it will happen.
Then I want RogerThe Shrubber to come in and tell us how bad it is when other countries tariff us, they should pay theirs back as well, with that logic.
He says it’s awful for the tarrfing country. Meanwhile we’ve been financing every country for decades.

Why would this ruling do THAT?

It wouldn’t. And that is why we should not concede our tariffs.
If they are that bad, then the world needs to stop them vs us.
If the world won’t stop, then we continue as well.

Nobody is "conceding our tariffs"
It's the admin relying on a statute that doesn't authorize tariffs to authorize them.
They had plenty of other options to issue tariffs that wouldn't have led to these questions/issues, but chose the clever route that may be ultimately fatal.
It would be one of the biggest frickups in American political history, and a complete unforced error.

Completely irrelevant to the legal discussion about the tariffs authorized pursuant to the IEEPA

What ever happened with this?
Posted on 12/4/25 at 1:06 pm to TDFreak
Supreme Court isn't going to rule until next year so nothing will happen until then.

That’s not what all of this is about.

Give it back to the tax payers!

Some stores didn’t pass the tax along to consumers but for those that did, then a refund would be due. Not sure if a lawsuit is required tho.

Meanwhile a bunch of nonsense tariffs on agricultural items not grown in the USA were rolled back before Thanksgiving.
