For those that are saying it cant be done.....
- how much of our spending is overspending on military (contracts and what not are outrageous)
- how much of our spending is on salaries of folks that are going to leave the government work force due to the return to office (or the destruction of agencies that no longer need to exist)?
- How much of the spending is on entitlements for people that shouldnt be on them? (folks on wic or EBT that are fully capable of working and earning a living but are lazy
I bet we could probably make some sizable chunks there. I work in state government and I fully believe you could get rid of 85% of alabama's state employees and productivity wouldnt suffer one bit because the actual work is done by the 15%.....have worked in federal government as well and I believe the same could be true.

Good questions. How much?
I mean, surely the people proposing these things have this data available and can cite it.

Keep it in your pants, the income tax isn’t going anywhere.
In my practice, cap gains on crypto is 0% already because my clients lose money on it.

Then again maybe they did, just saw this:
Even if we assume for the sake of discussion that they managed to cut every bit of spending that's been added since 2019, you've still got a couple of problems:
1. $4.5T in 2019 is about $5.5T when adjusted for inflation. End the Fed.
2. The extra expense to service the debt isn't wiped out by reducing spending; we actually have to reduce the debt.
I'm a minarchist libertarian; I 100% support slashing trillions, with a T, from the federal budget. I just don't trust the populist histrionics I'm seeing.

So much for not being able to touch Social Security or Medicare to balance the budget and eliminate federal income tax in the near (next 4 years) future:
793 Billion in Social Security funds stolen annually ( 1/3 of all SS spending fraudulent)

If you believe 1/3rd of social security is fraudulent, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
They will definitely cut SS, but it won’t be fraudulent SS cut.

Foster Campbell used to go around campaigning that if Louisiana would tariff oil coming into and through the state, Louisiana residents wouldn’t have to pay taxes.

I would absolutely love it if this were true, but I very highly doubt it. But hey, we’ll see

It is just as impossible today as it was 5 months ago.
I’m all for Doge, but I would be absolutely floored if this administration doesn’t add a few trillion at a minimum to the deficit over the next 4 years.
