Thanks for sharing that.

At least this makes me less concerned about an audit.

Are you guys able to track your refund on the irs site, or does it tell you that you may have entered your information incorrectly? I filed on 3/5 and still nothing. I’m getting the you may not have entered your information correctly when I try to track it.

Filed 3/9 electronically. “Accepted” within minutes. Still waiting. Check IRS website “Your return in still being processed.”

They need someone to manually verify they didn’t send me my $1800 stimulus last year?

They will owe interest on the refunds soon enough. Absolutely incompetent.

Federal Tax refund
I simply do not understand why anyone would overpay their taxes. I just don't get it.

I told my accountant years ago if I ever got a refund (i.e., paid more tax than I owe), he'd be fired. I was only half joking.

Hello there Mr. Seawolf, glad to know there's another kindred spirit painfully doing this every year like me.

How fun is IRS Pub. 555? I bet my return where I'm manually splitting everything in half so it doesn't match any of the provided forms confuses IRS staff so much they just relent.

Had issues my first year doing it but now I include a cover letter where I update the income and tax numbers every year to give them a general overview/heads up to not out the return through automated review.

This year I filed earlier this week since I'm in TX and felt lazy.

1) it's usually not that big of a deal

2) glad I did it that way when my wife gets her bonus taxed at 20% or whatever is standard when it really should be taxed more, which could push us to underpayment. I'm going to have to pay estimated taxes I think.

No. I get it. If the refund is small, fine. Better safe than sorry. There are folks who count on annual refunds, then consider the money as manna from heaven ... aka an IRS bonus ... and are genuinely appreciative for it.

Bizarre.
