Up in the Air/Down on the ground. Covid testing and international air travel.

Do not travel internationally until the preflight Covid testing rule for return to the US is withdrawn. Stuck in Europe. Tested positive with zero symptoms. Spouse negative. Can’t get back yet.

My FIL had this happen and got to stay an extra 5 days and $1000 in hotel costs. Sorry dude.

Sorry about your FIL, but he got off light. Do not travel internationally by air until the morons at CDC and in the White House change the rule. Too many expensive bad, bad ramifications.

$200 a night isn't that bad.
Do they even report the positives anymore to local authorities. Seems like you could continue your vacation unlike a year ago when you were absolutely screwed and confined.

Don't know about authorities, but they contacted their hotel. They weren't allowed to use any on-site facilities and were supposed to eat in their room, etc.
He said he went out every day anyway, but did wear a mask as prescribed.
Hotel did discount his rate.

This. Don’t let this shite hold you back man. Think outside the box. You should be able to easily switch your flights to Toronto or another major city in Canada.

The US requires a negative test to fly into the country. You could also show that you had covid and recovered within the last 90 days. Our country is run by the dumbest and/or most evil people possible.

I’ll let you draw your own conclusions and actions from this statement. I’ve traveled extensively internationally since covid - US included.
The only people checking the papers are the airline staff. It is good that your wife who has the same last name, tested negative, and I assume you received an electronic PDF of the results. Many people do not trust PDF’s because they can be edited.
