What am I supposed to do about that?
Sounds like you will have to change carriers to get the required coverage if you want to buy a policy from RLI?

That bottom option is $500K CSL which meets the RLI requirement

Is that better or worse auto coverage?

It’s just different.

You currently have 250/500 BI and 50 PD:

That means it’s 250k per person or 500k per accident (2+ people) for bodily injury and 50k for property damages. So max 550 with BI and PD. Vs 500 combined. They are very similar. With 500 CSL 1 individual could get the whole amount vs max of 250 bi and 50 pD with the other policy. I have a 500 CSL policy myself

It looks like it would only be a minimal increase in my premium (for now) if I switch to 500 CSL.

When I go to update the policy I am getting prompted to sign this though. Is this something new, or specific to the 500 CSL? I’m already carrying 100/300 Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage since when I had initiated the policy earlier this year and didn’t request a change to that.

Other carriers will also enforce higher limits on his auto policy. I think they all require it.

I have mine thru Shelter to respond to the OP. I carry $2M but did not use the level of analysis you describe.

if I injured someone with my negligence, why wouldn’t I want them to get compensation?
