Yeah, I just saw and was going to edit my post.

I don't know if I'll be much help because I really only knew the MBA guys that were going the finance route. The really smart ones got the IB analyst jobs at energy boutique shops in NOLA or Houston. Some of them got picked up by the same boutiques, but as research analysts. Another couple got hired by major oil companies as financial analysts.

Good thing is with these, you can get into them from a variety of programs. UT has an pretty good Entrepreneur program. For health care it may be a good idea to look at programs away from LA and in places that have large health care centers.

If you want to really branch out id say go to a program outside of Louisiana.

It would cost at least $80 grand to do the Tulane MBA. Unless you have the money to pay, I dont think taking out student loans(that charge interest daily) for that much is worth it unless you for sure have a job lined up that will pay you at least over $100k.

Ive looked into the MBA, I just cant risk that much money unless I had the job lined up or employer pays for it.

Buddies wife has an MBA from Emory, they moved to Houston for his job, it doesn't have as much cache outside of the SE.

Its going to be tougher to set your sights on a city like New Orleans for a post-mba job. Its very possible but you will be limiting your opportunities greatly.

I wouldn't do entrepreneurship unless you had something specific in mind you want to do when you graduate, as far as starting a company

Why even bother putting this on Money Talk? This would get more hits on the O-T.

It is basically about who you meet at school. I doubt a year out of school nobody will give a crap where you went to school or even what degree you have.

If you want the ultimate in elbow rubbing and education in this part of the country buy yourself a UT Austin MBA.

Texas is you. The most powerful business state in country now and no doubt Houston and Dallas are very important cities of the world.

Dallas is without question the biggest money center between New York and San Francisco. More so as New York taxes people out of the city. If you want finance and I suggest that you concentrate in finance Dallas is where you are going to find the most job opportunities.

Atlanta is past it's hay day and New Orleans has no real large capital sources. There is not even a large regional bank based in New Orleans anymore.

I have an MBA from UGA from way, way back in the early eighties. I didn't even know what an investment banker was and hardly anyone else did at the time. I wonder what opportunities I would have had if I had taken that route. Doesn't matter now.

I own a business.

At UT you will be rubbing elbows with the future business leaders of Texas. Think about that. HUGE.

It is very expensive and quite exclusive but no doubt worth it for hardworking opportunity seekers.

Finance.

Forget management if you are going to pay a bunch. You could get that at SLU.

When I got mine the concentrations only differed on 6 or 8 classes. Don't know about today.
