What good is having money if your country is taken over by a terrorist jihadis?

They're already doing that without firing a single bullet.
Iran is Israel's and Europe's problem. Let them handle it, we'll gladly sell them weapons and use those revenues to improve the lives of american citizens in our country.

Trump decides he’s walking away from Hormuz. Oil drops. Markets explode. Iran concedes….3D mother f-in chess! That’s why the Don is president. Master stroke!

Yall severely lack critical thinking skills……Trump walks away, do you think the Iranians will all of a sudden just play nice? They’ll pick up all their mines and stop collecting windfal tolls out of the kindness of their hearts? I don’t believe for a second that we’re done, why else would we be amassing troops over there? Anyone with a functioning brain knows this is far from being decided.

The only good thing is that Trump is unpredictable. What he says today may be different tomorrow, and prolly will be. I think and hope Trump knows Iran can't control the straits.

Trump miscalculated that Iran would be as easy as Venezuela, assuming to take out the leader and the regime will fall. Iran is a whole different ball game.

THIS! And totally ignoring his military's input that the Strait is Key Terrain, and Iran seizing it is really their only option to fight back and impact the international community. They are not going to win an air to air, navy to navy or ground to ground conflict, but they did what they could do.....and look at the impact. It's profound and validated their strategy for future conflicts & generations.

At this point I get it, but not sure Iran is just going to stop attacking because we said so.

Iran has been backing attacks against western interests forever. Why would they stop now?

They have also been attacking their own citizens and will do so more after this is over.

You come with great humility.

China and the rest of Asia needs the oil to flow through Hormuz. Not wants, but needs. So, Iran can be as stubborn as the other regional powers allow them to be.

Maybe he's invading. Maybe it's a bluff. Maybe he should write a book called The Art of the Deal regarding his philosophy of negotiation.

Well, the impact of this won't be short. What we or others (including Iran) do is unknown, except for Trump saying that we've almost wrapped it up. Maybe Trump's just saying that to affect Iran's behavior and catch them off guard in Operation Ha-Ha-We-Fooled-You. Who knows?

I voted for Trump but it’s not looking good. Everything this boastful, fat idiot said he was going to do is going in the opposite direction.

I’m sure he’ll shoot a 66 from the tips at his next club golf tourney tho. Never trust a fat guy who lies about golf scores and likes wrasslin.

I get that he can’t look weak giving a national speech. But at some point you have to be straight with the people. That’s what a good leader does especially in times of crisis. That’s why people tuned in. Did anyone watch that speech and thought “I get it. This is where we are. This is where we are going because of xyz”. Instead we get the “we won, but “we need 2-3 more weeks”. “We’re negotiating” but “we killed all their leaders. we don’t know who’s in charge.” Trump glazed about himself and the situation with hyperboles but aside from his loyal base, a lot of people have doubts because his enthusiasm doesn’t match the reality of the situation.

I thought said we are talking with the new regime, not that we don't know who they are. For people who keep up with politics, there was nothing new said in the speech. It was for people who don't keep up with politics for whatever reason.

Trump, and the majority of modern world, can’t afford boots on the ground. Gas is $3.59 even in more rural parts of Louisiana. If that shite ever got to $5 over here, the economy may never recover and would be devastating.

Anyone with a functioning brain has to realize this is a lose-lose scenario. Put boots on the ground for an invasion? Prolonged war, closed straits and potential economic collapse not just here but worldwide. Back off and officially pull out of the war and it shows weakness AND there’s no guarantee they open the Straits without heavy negotiations and reparations which could take forever but would probably keep the economy from completely collapsing until they work out a deal.

If Trump wants to stand a chance at the midterms, he has to off ramp by the end of April.
