Apple stock usually drops after earnings no matter how good then they start running up a day or two later. We will see, but I think with the cell companies not subsidizing the iphone will hurt apple.

Summer of 2016 specifically was particularly cruel to me. People who were there will remember that I lost pretty much every single time. I was tilting, because I knew I was making the right trades, yet losing time after time after time.

I lost $30,000 in a week playing $5/$10 poker. I got absolutely horrific hands and I got so many bad beats I stopped counting them.

I want my two point five million back. It’s mine and I want it back, period.
Self-delusion at this level is just brutal to witness.

...Looks like the Money Board fell for it. fscomeau is a troll. Just look through his comments and posts, and you'll be able to tell. A few days before, he was acting clueless about how options and option writing works, and then he makes the linked post without ever seeming to really understand it. He's also faked his death a few times. The dude's a troll and a drama queen, plain and simple. If anyone still believes he actually inherited $2.5 million and pissed most of it away, then I'll let you in on the secret that Dylan Moses and Tom Herman are both coming to LSU and will be led by the unicorn Travonte Valentine.
The only really intriguing thing about fscomeau is that he has an apparently real Interactive Brokers account and appears to be really making the trades. The moderators over at WallStreetBets have been trying for years to prove he's been faking it, but they've failed. So they have two ideas of what's going on: he's either a professional trader posting hedges, or he's someone making big bucks at a fund or a bank and can afford to throw money away like that for laughs. I personally believe the professional trader idea.

If the mods are okay with it. Otherwise I'd understand. I don't have a webcam and my CC are maxed out, so I would most likely need to borrow from my mom and/or I can return the empty bottle of beers/soda we have.
Jesus Christ we're being trolled right?
ETA: Just read above post. Yup.
Still was a good read.

If Peej is a troll whose predictions are wrong at least 95% of the time, then yes he is. Heck, fscomeau has been right a few times and still lost money, usually due to volatility crush after earnings are announced.

I think most of us knew there was a good chance this was BS, as with just about everything else posted on the internet. More enjoyable to just go with it than to point out the obvious fact it's probably fake.

Even if he makes money on this, he will make additional trades because he like the attention. If he loses, he may live stream his suicide because he likes the attention.

For all anyone can tell, the trades are real, it's the story about inheriting $2.5 million and losing most of it that's crap. As I mentioned, the moderators over there have been trying for years to prove he's really just paper trading, but his screenshots and the volume data on whatever he's trading point to the positions being real rather than fake. It's a disturbing truth considering the money he has thrown away over the years, which is why they're trying to guess where the money is really coming from and how he can be so consistently wrong (and therefore so amazingly profitable to inverse).
But I have seen an idiot on that sub who inherited at least $50k from his father or something and lost at least half of it because he was clueless. The moderators determined that guy's story was real and were trying to get him to stop before he lost the rest. That sub attracts stupid people and people trying to get rich quick without the knowledge to really understand what they're doing, so you can find some crazy real stories on occasion. One of the only positive stories was that of the guy World_Chaos, an 18 year old who turned $900 into $55k in less than a month with some options trades.

Like I said, his positions are likely real, and I'm providing backstory for the people of the MT unfamiliar with WSB. I read that sub for entertainment and occasional good discussions/tickers, so I provided much-needed context.
And I completely understand people not necessarily getting that the post itself is a trolling, but there are some fantastic tidbits that give it away. For example, fscomeau, supposedly a Canadian, also said he would ship everyone cans of maple syrup if he was right.

Even if it is fake, he's a very captivating story teller so I will be following anyway.

How much could you even make by taking 300k and shorting apple?

He included a payout spreadsheet based on the call/put structure he utilized

Martin Skreli talked to the dude and told him to close it, but he seemed even more intent after that happened.
He's up about 10% right now.

Apple expecting best ever financial results
I'm clueless on trading. Does he sell his position on the date listed or can he do it at anytime before the date listed?

I highly doubt it's their best quarter or year ever. I don't think the demand for the iPhone 7 was quite there.

He can close his position anytime before the expiration date. He could wait and execute the option on the expiration date, but he doesn't have that kind of capital.
The time premium on those out of the money puts will also erode extremely quickly. He needs Apple to drop quick and bail before it catches up to him.

I think iPhone 7 sales are weak because it felt more like one of the "+" iterations with minor upgrades. All the immediate speculation that the 8 released in 2017 on the 10 yr anniversary would have dramatic changes (glassenclosure) suppressed the 7 sales too.
