Honest answer is if I was making $500k plus I would just spend whatever it meant for my wife and kid to be well taken care of.

I think that is why the downvotes are pouring in on your post.

You'll spend about 4 times the amount of anyone you know who has a normal job. It's nuts.

I guess you essentially want a catastrophic policy

I’m gonna warn you that when the catastrophe comes they only pay roughly 1/4 of the total cost

I know this because I had a blue cross catastrophic policy when catastrophe happened

I have an option for $500 a month but with a 1 million dollar cap or a full blown policy for about $2500 a month. Not sure which I need to go with.

Where are you seeing the $500/mo policy?

I thought the ACA got rid of catastrophic policies for people over 30. Did they walk that back or am I wrong?

Why look into a religious health sharing plan if you make $500 - $700k per year? Why take that on rather than purchasing health insurance with a legitimate insurance carrier?

1) they are not all religious based.
2) The good ones are way better than insurance because you get to use the doctors of your choice and they can save you tens of thousands in premiums over the years.

500k a year now is like making 75k a year in 2018

That’s a lot of words to say you own a law firm or insurance agency. I’d guess law firm if your earnings vary by up to $200k a year.

I don't want to out him, but you got him.

I remember mentoring the young Padawan on here, lo these many years ago. He has succeeded beyond our wildest expectations.

I'm sure he works a lot harder than I do, but it is what it is...

dude obama fricked us all. insurance was cheap as shite during clinton and bush years, if you have a family group now, plan the costs are astronomical regardless whether you work for someone else or yourself and run it through your company.
