just figure out the dates, wait for the better deals, then just book it.
I have never taken my kids to Disney and feel like I am being a jackass. When are the best times to go to get deals?

Find a Disney travel agent, no cost to you… they will monitor the deals and recommend what’s best for what you want

I can give you email of mine if you want

When we lived in Florida. We always went during the Superbowl. Not as crowded and no waiting in lines.

I've never been to Disney - don't really feel like I missed it. Have a couple kids now probably will go, but if I never take them they won't know what they missed.

We went for 1st time last year, coupled it with LSU game. I will never forgot those memories and they won’t either but I happen to love theme parks.

Now we are going on Disney cruise next Mardi Gras. Have payed 20% of cruise, will have rest saved by cruise time. Will put rest of balance on Disney credit card which will get me more reward points and 6 more months no interest. Pay off from savings account that is gaining 4.5% interest

We went to Houston most years to Astroworld and caught an Astros game or two. That was our vacation most of the time.

Same except only every other year or two most those years we didnt even get an Astros game.

First time I went to Disney was w my kids. My wife went as a kid and her parents were worse off than mine.

We went to Universal recently w neighbors that had recently mentioned they were trying to get consumer debts paids off and only starting to invest in their 40s. Their kids asked and received numerous overpriced indulgences.
Meanwhile, we are debt free except mortgage, early retired, and our kids knew when things were ridiculously priced and only asked for reasonable things. They've traveled and enjoyed more experiences than most if not all of their peers we've just taught them what to value and to delay gratification. They know they can buy several ice creams on a regular day and enjoy that time and enjoy their time at parks doing park stuff not stuffing faces and shopping.

And this is why poor people are poor.

Spending money they don’t have on things they don’t need.

More like how middle class stay middle class. Cars they cant afford to go with vacations they cant afford all while eating out a majority of meals.

Great way to never get ahead

It is absolutely mind blowing to me that someone would pay that. Different strokes but there are 1000’s of trips that could be had for less and don’t involve standing in lines in the Orlando heat for hours.

Dont worry, Disney will gladly give you the opportunity to pass up those lines if you give them even more money

hire a project manager just for the opportunity to purchase add ons.

Agree with this . Wife (sorry, no pics ) was wheeling and dealing on the Disney apps that schedule meals and fast lanes . She was timing everything perfectly. We would have been toast without it.

I'd pay money to not take a trip to Disneyland.

So, it sounds like you couldn't afford it and are taking on debt to pay for it?

You can easily do one of those credit card plans and split it up over 6 months and pay less than 100$ in fees, no penalty to pay off sooner. So you could “finance” a nice vacation for cheap and not have to blow your wad all at once.

It's the mentality of it and the slippery slope of when you do something once you need up cracking later on and getting behind.

lol, I booked it 18 months in advance, the deposit is 20% and paid for. I have the rest in savings already, so think I can afford it. Or should I just pick up one more day a month until then which would pay for your family too

That number is in no way accurate.

For a family of 4 and 5 days at disney, you're easily 5k+ in... Rough estimates

Flights: 2k round trip
Lodging: 1500
Tickets: 2k
Dining: 1k
Merch: 500

The fact that something like 60% of Americans don't have enough in savings to cover an emergency expense of 1k, the numbers just don't add up to it only being 45% taking on debt.

You do realize that someone could have 10K+ in available credit on revolving accounts and not have the 1K in savings right?

I’ll be there. We’ve been on 8 Disney cruises. Much prefer the cruises over Disney world.
