Any ideas on what this will do to the property value in the Meadow Bend/Highland Creek neighborhoods? I've heard that there will be some nice stuff put along staring for this new stretch..anyone hear the same?

I don't know anything about the new proposal but I lived in and owned a house in Highland Creek in the 80's and the proposed extension of Staring would have been an elevated section right behind (and above) my back yard. That proposal had a very negative effect on housing prices in the neighborhood as did the recent flooding and the oil patch bust of the 80's. Houses were amazingly cheap. I paid someone to take that house.

I think the extension will not affect the vast majority of the property value in that area, but the houses which directly back up to the proposed extension will be negatively affected.
I have a friend who rents a house that is right next to where the street will go, and he is looking to "get the hell out of there." I'd feel the same way.

I have heard different rumors concerning this...I've heard when or should I say if the casino is built the gardere trash will be pushed out...the advocate even had a big article about this a while back...I've also heard that the property along the new extension will be bought and fixed up nice...I don't know what the definition of nice is but I'm wondering if I should sell in the summer or wait longer

if you are worried about crime, I talked to one of the project managers and they will be building a 10' concrete sound wall through the neighborhoods. This should at least reduce majority of the crime that would have occurred.

FWIW, I think the Gardere Trash is being runout of the area. Albeit, slowly but crime is down in the area and more and more "nicer" developments are beginning to surround the area.
Widening Burbank helps as well.
