I may be looking at this the wrong (forgive me just trying to understand) but when all the 1/29 calls come due Friday what happens to those who can’t afford to exercise the calls? A lot of these holders are your average Joe’s who bought it cause Reddit said to. They can’t afford to be forking out hundreds to thousands of dollars to exercise the options. What happens to those shares? Will that affect the float?

The squeeze makes sense in theory just trying to understand the factors.

Depends on your broker. Robinhood will sell the contracts about an hour or so before market close if you don't have the money to exercise.

I've had calls with eTrade that were ITM (not by a lot) and they slapped DNEs on them without mentioning it to me and they expired worthless

If people hold and the stock price stays elevated then the stock has no option but to go up. It’s built into the mechanics of the system. It’s like saying what happens if a train keeps going down the tracks that go over the cliff but the train doesn’t go over the cliff.

With that being said, would it help the cause to actually exercise my call that expires Friday rather than to sell the call? Surely there won’t be much of a premium on a call that expires same day... so I wouldn’t be losing out on much.

Lulz. I live in NYC and some of my friends that are Mets fans are melting right now — it’s what they do best tbh. Report just came out that their new owner, Steve Cohen’s, hedge fund, which helped bailout Melvin, is also down 15% thanks to GameStop.

One of their comments: “frick me. Mets finally have an owner that’ll spend money and some Reddit retards are gonna bankrupt him.”

Yes you are looking at it all wrong. The options expiring Friday that we are waiting on are the shorts, which is mostly held by greedy hedge funds and institutions. Any retailer who bought calls that expire Friday should’ve already made bank if they aren’t stupid

it’s the critical question and kudos to you for bringing it up.
the bottom line is that there are not enough liquid shares available to execute delivery of all the ITM calls that expire Friday

If the diamond hands have the cash set aside to call those shares, they very well might go to 1000. If they don’t, this might be over

If they don’t, wouldn’t they just be snatched up by those that do?

Hey C,
I know you’re more prudent with your investments but I’ve got to ask, did you Yolo anything into these plays?

“So the SEC won't let me be, or let me be me and buy GME

They tried to shut me down on WSB but it feels so empty without DFV ????????”

They’re making “mixtapes” on WSB now, rewriting Slim Shady lyrics. I love these crazy bastards ??
