from my experience, sams club has never taken visa credit.

Sams has never allowed VISA credit for the last 5 years I have been a member.

You can use your VISA debit. Maybe he used that.

I Cannot use my Visa credit card in the store, but it works at the gas station outside of the store. I'm sure it is a different company that regulates the gas store though.

I believe gas takes everyone but Amex

Yeah, I just joined the new Costco here and went ahead and signed up for a Amex Delta gold card so I can make sure I don't miss the points for the store and gas station purchases.

So what's the difference between VISA and MC that makes Sam's not take the VISA credit card? I've always thought that they were basically the same with about the same rules. But I'm a simpleton so what do I know.

Exclusive contracts. Amex has one with Costco. That's why you don't see Amex accepted at any other "wholesale membership clubs."
I'm sure it has to do with the Sam's deal with discover. No one can only take discover. Barely anyone has it.

I don't think they've ever accepted Visa credit. To get around this and still get my reward points I go to Walmart and buy a giftcard with my Visa credit card then use that at Sam's.
