Didn't get good enough tickets to justify the cost of travel. The GF is coming in town that weekend instead.

WEAK, it's all about Return on Life, you know this.
But the only reason I'm going is because I'm flying on miles and staying at JH's so my cost are minimal. Have fun with the ole lady

I was just on the phone with my mom and she mentioned AL's wedding last night. She said your parents were there.
I'll be in town for the UF game. I imagine I'll go to Ole Miss and maybe Tenn too. Let me know if you'll be at any of those.

Its really just sticker shock. The metric that matters, percentage of after tax income, isn't much higher after you discount out the one bedroom factor. The places I'm looking at here are also in a completely different ballpark relative to my place uptown.

Yea, my brother went too, apparently it was interesting.
I think the only 2 I'll be at are Oregon and Arky. I might get stupid and drive to WV too but that's still up in the air.

Luckily I found a roommate and only pay about $1100 now.
In New York? That's not bad at all. Hell after utilities I pay $1,000 with a roommate in downtown Nashville.

If I rent this place its going to be 1300 before utilities, but its a baller pad right next to memorial park with a huge 5th floor balcony and unobstructed view of the downtown Houston skyline, which is less than 5 minutes away.

Houston's real estate is quirky. Generally, the further you get from downtown the cheaper it gets. But because its such a big and spread out city, they have these pockets of commerce that, unsurprisingly, have apartment complexes near them. So even though you might be 3 miles from downtown, it might actually cost more on a per square footage basis than it would if you were in midtown (right next to downtown). The market is just very competitive, so the prices are pretty much identical. To really get to the point where its "cheap" you have to live where I do now, and on purely a price difference, the savings pretty much gets erased by commuting costs.

This part is pretty similar to Nashville. I'd rather just live a mile away from work with high rent and have negligible car costs then to live 20 minutes away with cheaper housing and then have to worry about my already POS car deteriorating.

Yeah, my commute right now is typically around 20 minutes, but traffic has gotten predictably shitty in the last week. Coupled with a gaz guzzling car, I end up having to fill up my gas tank like every other week, and I have to make that drive to do anything social since every one lives closer to downtown. Moving reduces my driving from 24 miles a day to about 3 and makes my social commute about 5 blocks. It really a no brainer for me.

Boston, I also have a nice view of downtown and live about 50yds from a halfway decent beach. Apt is nothing special but nice enough.

If I am looking at a company and want to compare it to others that have similar operations, what is the best place to find out what corporations are in the same industry?

Or if its a publicly traded company, use any generic finance website (yahoo, google, morningstar) and they almost always have a "competitors" or some such section.
Put in 8 hrs today btw. Have not started full-time yet. #losing
