Question About Fidelity Money Market for some Savings

I keep about $5k in cash in my Fidelity trading acct. It’s a bit “quick-ish access” savings, and a little bit being held in case there is an investment I want to jump into on the fly.
As per the below, it’s in FCASH. I’m wondering what the difference is between FCASH and the Money Market options, other than interest %. Do I get the same kind of quick access? Penalties, etc I need to consider? I’m assuming the MM options are similar , other than the interest %, so going with the higher amount is the easier call.
Anything else I don’t know to ask, please advise. Thanks.

Current core position
FCASH - Taxable Interest Bearing Cash Option
Your cash is held at Fidelity as a free credit balance and earns daily interest, which is paid to you monthly.
The interest rate is 1.94 % as of Oct 7, 2026.
Interest rates may change at any time.
—————-
Select a new core position:
FZFXX - Fidelity Treasury Money Market Fund
Your cash is invested in a mutual fund and earns daily dividends, which are paid to you monthly.
The 7-day yield is 3.55 % as of Oct 7, 2026.
SPAXX - Fidelity Government Money Market Fund
Your cash is invested in a mutual fund and earns daily dividends, which are paid to you monthly.
The 7-day yield is 3.49 % as of Oct 7, 2026.
Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

FCASH is slightly less risky than SPAXX, but the risk for both is extremely low. SPAXX can theoretically lose value, but the odds are negligible. You’re better off with SPAXX. FZXXX is virtually the same thing, my cash sits in SPAXX though.
That 7 day yield can vary, so it’s not necessarily better to choose the one that just had a higher yield.

Got it. Thanks
So is moving money in and out of the MM options, the same as FCASH?
And penalties, fees,?
How do you monitor the MMs for when they are losing value, and when to move it out back into FCASH or something else?

FCASH is like savings that the bank or in this case can lend out. Money market isnt risk free but something dramatic would have to happen to "break the buck."
Only "fee" is the expense ratio.

Speaking of this I always wonder why Fidelity can auto deposit you in spaxx or fdrxx and Schwab can’t figure this out

A couple of mine.
SNVXX - 7-Day Yield 3.58%, Net expenses 0.34%
PCOXX - 7-Day Yield 3.88%, Net expenses 0.20%

Yup. I keep my cash in Apple savings at 3.10%. I have margin available so don’t need anything in Schwab extra.

I keep our cash in SPAXX and can move money back and forth as needed. Earning mid to high 3%. Also, easy to move in and out of ETFs if you want extra returns depending on when you need the money.
If you set that as your holding account money goes directly in and out.
Highly recommend.

Anyone here using X Money 6% w FDIC coverage? I'm thinking of trying it out.
