this is only the beginning
I was tuned into a personal livestream of the Ouster event in San Francisco a couple hours ago. The shareholder I watched livestream the event got a picture with Angus, the CEO, and asked him this question during a Q&A session:
Question:
“[To CEO] You mentioned that even very small startups — for example, a five-person team using AI/LLMs — are able to integrate and build on Ouster’s LiDAR technology. In those types of partnerships or agreements, who owns the data generated by the sensors and software?”
CEO responded that the data remains 100% the property of the startup/customer. Ouster does not claim ownership over the operational or application data generated through the deployment; ownership stays entirely with the company using the technology.
Figured this could be interesting to some of you holding OUST. I’ve never considered the “micro startup” partnership angle until today, but this just provides the TAM for this company and the product they provide (specifically Rev8) is absolutely massive.

Nice info
Sounds a lot like NBIS in that regard.
I agree. The Rev8 sensor shipments are going to be huge.

I’m not sure I can handle watching the rest of this video
The vision, the patience, the detail, that went into Rev8…WOW.
Well deserved, Angus.
You can tell he’s having some fun now.
So bullish.

iPad Do you know this one?
Had it on my watchlist since under $0.80/share. Never entered position but no reason not to in my opinion if you’re looking for a robotics microcap moonshot.
Looking back I wish I had just tossed a 1% allocation towards it

Good time to buy the dip?
I have staggered limit orders set. I wouldn’t mind seeing a big dip to get back in

Im so pissed about this thread because i've been on the Lidar thesis for about 10 years...
got crushed on Velodyne
then got crushed on Luminar
It was literally luck of the draw.

Do you follow INDI?
INDIE SEMICONDUCTOR (INDI)
indie Semiconductor designs and markets custom application specific integrated circuits and software platforms dedicated entirely to the autotech market. They focus heavily on edge sensor processing across multiple sensor types, including lidar, radar, ultrasound, and vision.
For Arbe and the radar ecosystem, indie designs specialized microwave integrated circuits and radar signal processors that ingest raw radio frequency data and convert it into structured point clouds.
For Ouster and Aeva, indie provides specialized mixed signal front-end architectures and time to digital converters. These chips handle the high speed data acquisition required when billions of photons or frequency modulated continuous waves hit a detector every second.
Because indie's architecture is built to normalize and process edge sensor data before it reaches a vehicle's central computer, their silicon and algorithm portfolios are explicitly designed to interface with digital time of flight, frequency modulated continuous wave, and 4D imaging radar front ends alike.

It’s not profitable, yet. Primarily focused in autos but has exposure to robotics / quantum / healthcare thematics.
Cheap on some metrics. But again, not profitable yet.
States a +$7B backlog primarily from Tier-1 auto suppliers but they’ve been slow to convert.

I did not know this! I assumed it was the AV sensors for ag and mining (industrial).
Bullish

If tweet fails to load, click here. This is the user who live-streamed the Ouster event from San Francisco that I mentioned yesterday. Great read here.
Highly advise any OUST shareholders to give this one a quick read. One of the most knowledgeable OUST shareholders I’ve come across outside of ppdd.
Just added to my position after reading this write up. Brought my avg share cost from $26.40 to $30.27.
