What are yalls thoughts on coinbase potentially adding other cryptos to their exchange? Trying to get in on some alts before they get added. The prices will surely shoot up once they make it to coinbase and they are easier for everyone to buy.

XRP to CB is one of the worst kept secrets in crypto world from everything I read. But don't expect it to shoot up to triple digits or anything. Even if it did get onto CB, $2-2.50 seems to be the expected range.

XMR is a lesser known coin that has potential as well to maybe be added to CB.

ETA: Sorry for the tl:dr.

No need to apologize for great info!

I might start a thread in the next week or two to get the full skinny on crypto storage. Keeping them on the exchanges for a bit longer to make sure I like my holdings for the long term.

So you have to get a Wallet to transfer them to. Maybe 2-3 to hold them all, depending on the type of coin or token. Paper, hard, pc, phone, online, offline? Lots of Wallet types. What’s best for you?

I'm probably going to hold onto my LTC over the Christmas break, make some decisions about moving into Ripple / TRX and some others... $200 here, $100 there, and then hopefully around mid-late January move everything into a wallet.

My question would be - how does the wallet work? Will I have to pay the exchange to remove the coins from the exchange and put them in my wallet? (I use coinbase and gdax for now) I don't want to keep my coins in the exchange, but I also trust coinbase more than the others - also, I guess I'll be setting up an account on another exchange around Christmas time for my alt purchases - let's say I buy Ripple on Gemini and in 2 months Ripple starts being traded on Coinbase. My Ripple coins would be in my wallet, and I then load them into coinbase if I wanted in order to use them in that exchange I guess?

iota just released new wallet LINK

but theyre working on a much higher end wallet similar to exodus which will be out by Jan:

also, Bosch invested huge amounts of capital in IOTA and added an advisor to the board (indicating they're in it for the long run).

as more and more partners come onboard, the real potential of IOTA in M2M and the data economy will be realized.

I bought LTC on Coinbase at $360. I'm using Binance as my platform, and it's selling at $337.

My buddy next to me is using Bittrex, and it's selling around $345.

These platforms trade at different prices?

ETA: And is there any way to deposit straight through Binance? Or everything has to be done through Coinbase first?

Prices vary at every exchange.

Go to coinmarketcap.com
Click on any crypto.
Click on the tab labeled “Markets”

There you will see all the places it trades and the USD price.

You can’t transfer US$ straight to Binance. Most people go through Coinbase to convert US$ to Bitcoin, Litecoin or Etherium.

You can go to the Bitcoin ATM at Benny’s on Perkins road (or wherever one is closest) feed it cash and depending on the machine, send it to any account you already have or print a paper wallet you can do the same with on your PC.

Transaction fees are a part of life. They are not worth worrying about. Just focus on the big picture of protecting your assets.

Look at gettIng a Legder Nana S or two if your account is more than 2 weeks pay, as a rule of thumb.

They only hold 4-5 cryptos, at this point though I suspect larger capacity ones are in the works.

ETA: Typing on the phone, blows.

Once you get out of Coinbase, don’t go back unless you are cashing out funds to your bank account. It is not an exchange.

So you cant deposit money directly into binance? I have to wait for my coinbase account to be verified and buy bitcoin there just to be able to invest in the alt coins on binance using bitcoin as my deposit?

Pretty much what I've done thus far. That ATM thing may be a huge plus. I've already capped out my $750 weekly purchases through Coinbase.

Thanks. And since binance doesnt take USD$ how would you go about withdrawing your money from any trades on binance down the road?

Yep.

But Litecoin is supposed to be cheaper to buy and it is instantly in your account.

Last week I did a $500 CB buy of LTC on my linked CC. After $19.18 in fees, I had $480.82 in LTC in CB.

Moved it off CB and had anothe $9.33 in fees before it hit my wallet. Netting $471.49.

I had made those fees back in a couple of hours.

But YMMV.

Transfer it back to Coinbase and into your linked bank account or get a bitcoin debit card and use as you wish.

ETA
I might have misread your question. Some people swing trade to and from USD tether. Others roll into one and out the other over days or weeks, with the goal of acquiring more BTC.

You have to figure out what works for you.

If so, what exchanges do you recommend that carry LTC
