WTH?
Report
From what what I understand, they are similar to like kind transactions of property.
You pay $5 for a box of paperclips. You take some of the paperclips out and trade them for a donut. Some other paperclips you trade for pencils.
Until you go to the flea market and cash out for $7.86, you don't owe taxes.

Uncle Sam will be cracking down on CC soon enough. That is probably why Bitfinex is dumping US customers. They see what is coming and don want the hassle.

From what I understand, every time you make an exchange it is considered a capital gains transaction. I.e. you purchase ETH at $300. ETH rises to $310, you transfer to Bittrex and buy NEO with that ETH. You now have $10 worth of taxable income that should be reported

Been in CC Purgatory since last Friday. After 2 months on Coinbase, I decided to add my bank info. As soon as I did my credit card limit went from 500 to 150. No big deal, I'll just buy some BTC with my bank account which I did and BAM you can access it in 7 days.WHAT!! So my credit card limit is way past the reduced max and the bank transaction doesn't come thru for a week. Oh shite. OK, I'm a smart LSU grad and decide to go to Gemini and all goes well until they say it will take 2 weeks for them to approve me. YIKES. Abra also doesn't recognize my bank. So SOL.
Saturday my ETH will drop. Hopefully I can make it till then. May need to check into CC Rehab!!!!!

Wait how do you get IOTA? Edit: and let's say you have $5k to spend USD today. What are you buying with it? (Question is for all not just Carson)
IOTA, OMG, CVC, PAY, NEO and GAS. NEO creates GAS for you just by holding it in NEON wallet. GAS is the token will be used by ICO's on the NEO network. Unlike ether (tokens used by ICO's on ETH network) which is destroyed when used, GAS is not. There is limited number of GAS being created which means it will continue to increase as used for ICO's. So, I'm buying GAS also eventhough my NEO holding are creating some for free. I saw a calculation that said with NEO 2.5 Billion valuation the amount of GAS current in supply should be worth about $85 per GAS if it was 10% ($250million) of NEO.

That's exactly where I was when NEO was $12-16. Had just tried to deposit into coinbase to get in early but it would take 8 days for funds to be available. They were available in 6, and thankfully BTC was up 20% from the time my order went through

I think I'm done buying NEO for now. I know it has been posted but I can't seem to find step by step of how to move NEO from Bittrex so I can start collecting GAS

I have not moved in to a NEON wallet. Any step by step guides on that?
Sorry, I am just afraid of losing it.
Do you recommend the NEON wallet? The developer is the City of Zion.

IOTA transferred to Light Wallet successfully
How did you do it? I am going to buy IOTA, but want to pull it from Bitfinex asap. I set up light wallet, but I only see addresses for ETH.

Carson (at least I think it was Carson) posted a step by step guide on how to move it from Bittrex to the Neon Wallet. Super duper easy. It was a fairly long post, and I think someone quoted it in the last page or 2. Should be relatively easy to find.
Edit: Looks like he just talked about the steps of buying Neon in the first place, didn't dive into how to move it to a wallet, my mistake.

Im litterally working on this as we speak. Apparently you need nodejs on your computer then you just run the files. Once I'm finished ill try to explain what I did.
If I'm going down wrong path though someone warn me though. Ideally ill use my raspberry pi as my wallet for all currencies eventually is my game plan right now.

Go to Neo.org or the reddit thread and they have it on their sidebar. Just make sure you don't download a link from anyone. It's super easy.
Download it.
Create a new wallet.
Save your Private Key and Public Address.
Make sure to write down the Private Key and keep it safe as you really don't want to lose that
Go to Bittrex and withdraw to your Public Address on Neon Wallet.
Profit.

Just transferred IOTA from bitfinex to IOTA wallet. Is that the safest place to keep it?

Neo.org -> download -> NEON Download
Go to this website and pick your operating system for the corresponding link. I did it for the first time about 15 minutes ago and it took less than a minute for my NEO to show up in the wallet.
Once the program starts up there will be an option to create new wallet which will give you a public address to send the NEO to and private key which you should write down/store. Copy the public address and make the withdrawal to that address from Bittrex. It told me that it must be an integer so you'll have to withdraw a whole number plus .1 for the withdrawal fee.

You can also just transfer BTC to Binance instead of Bittrex which I did on my 2nd funding and earn GAS right on the exchange. I just picked up 25 more NEO while it's down
I bought GAS today and with my little BTC (.25) remaining I'm buying BNB.

1. Download and install IOTA lightwallet 2.4
2. Open lightwallet and create a seed (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO WRITE DOWN THE SEED AND SAVE IT).
3. Click 'Receive' in lightwallet and copy the generated address.
4. Attach it to the tangle.
5. In Bitfinex go to withdraw IOTA and paste same receive address that was generated in step 3 into the withdraw address box.
6. Input withdraw amount and click request withdrawal.

Safex low right now. If you can catch it near 500, can probably make a nice 10-20% gain when it rebounds
