I don't work there myself, but had a close buddy who worked at Capital One for almost six years as an underwriter (a VP of Energy Banking title was the official title I think). He left a little over a year ago for a less demanding, higher paying job that supposedly had better benefits and long term outlooks at a smaller bank.

He's iterated a number of times he regrets the move and really enjoyed his time at Capital One. The work was hard and the hours were long, but the projects were fulfilling and he felt like they were really building him in the profession. He also was a pretty big fan of the corporate culture, something that seems to be lacking at his new gig. It sounds like pay was below industry standard, but the experience you can get there is pretty invaluable.

Gdax is a Coinbase affiliate, same login and everything, except it has substantially lower fees. Strongly recommend buying BTC/ETH/LTC there, then transferring to Bittrex.

Getting killed in my NEO and ADX holdings today.

Still ahead on NEO, thank goodness, but it's eaten way into my earnings. I was also foolish enough to get ADX near the top. Should have stop/lossed it but my laziness got the better of me this time. Down about 40% on that one. Going to be drinking away the pain of that decision tonight.

Mostly NEO, but some ADX and a little SAFEX too.

Sounds like Bittrex/NEO eliminated the NEO truncation issue too, where if you didn't transfer a whole number, you'd lose any NEO after the decimal point. Sounds like they just block the transaction from happening now.
Carson (at least I think it was Carson) posted a step by step guide on how to move it from Bittrex to the Neon Wallet. Super duper easy. It was a fairly long post, and I think someone quoted it in the last page or 2. Should be relatively easy to find.

Edit: Looks like he just talked about the steps of buying Neon in the first place, didn't dive into how to move it to a wallet, my mistake.

Just got a 'Markets frozen : unexpected db outage' message on Bittrex.

Anyone seeing anything similar?

Same thing here for Bittrex...
Markets Frozen
Routine database upgrade consuming more resources than expected, halting markets as a precaution. All wallets remain online. Apologies for the trading interruption.

It looks like we crossed into the .01 bitcoin territory, per Jones' picture, so he may have been also alluding to the insanity of that as well.

I'm pretty sure Space X was pretty big into Iota.

Not a coin I would back, but most of these are crapshoots anyways, so to each their own

Not an expert by any means, but here are my thoughts.

From their last earnings call:

quote:

On a comparable basis, excluding divestitures and acquisitions in the period, consolidated revenue declined approximately 4.5%. The primary driver was a decrease in wireless service revenue resulting from the migration to the new pricing structures introduced over the past nine months, and the ongoing transition of the base to unsubsidize pricing...

They missed both of their revenue and earnings estimates in the prior quarter, and it sounds like some people are blaming Verizon's delayed response to the currently shifting pricing structures across the market. Their new unlimited offerings should help combat that, but to what degree remains to be seen.

If you compare how they ended Q1 of '16 vs Q1 of '17, there's been a significant decrease in their cash position (down over a billion plus in free cash flow), which could impact their dividend strategy going forward were it to continue. Something to keep an eye on for a company that hasn't provided significant stock appreciation over the years.

Their acquisition of Yahoo and their new Unlimited revenue model could change the game for them, but the uncertainty of how those two things will affect the company leave holders in a wait and see mode.

I want to convert some LTC to ETH. I have Coinbase, but obviously I would sell to USD, then buy from USD and have a ton of fees. I also have a poloniex account without anything in it, but I know how to transfer to and from it.

What is my cheapest way to convert LTC to ETH?

Seconded with GDAX. Since you already have a Coinbase account, and your LTC is already sitting in CB (I'm assuming), it's remarkably simple to move your LTC to GDAX (and it happens immediately). You'd still have to sell to USD then purchase ETH, but the fees are nothing compared to CB.

Edit: Like you said, you could go the LTC to BTC then BTC to ETH too.

Did you ever get past this issue? I've tried at various points over the last week and could never get it beyond "generating"

Same. I cashed out on a pretty significant portion of my stack tonight, and I'm comfortable waiting a few days to see if we get another dip

Welp, serves me right for trying to time the market.

Still waiting to get verified in Gemini after a week and a half. So slow.

GDAX, and it's functionality with CB, is prettt dope.

I would say that on polo, you're technically trading one crypto to another so that wouldn't cause you to have a taxable event

I'm almost certain it doesn't need to be converted to fiat in order to be subject to capital gains tax. Generally speaking, an exchange of a piece of property for another (which cryptocurrencies are considered) will subject you to capital gains tax (think of it as investing in a piece of art for 1k, it appreciates over time and you "sell" it for another piece of art worth 10k, you'd owe capital gains tax on the 9k even though you didn't take hard cash). There are caveats, of course, but regardless of the exchange you're using, and regardless of if you're trading your crypto for fiat or other crypto, the IRS would say you owe either STCG or LTCG tax on that exchange.

Still technically a gray area, and I'm not sure the rules on stock swaps apply, but I expect the IRS would consider that gain taxable.

Edit: Looks like someone beat me to the punch

Bounce back to $220+ already. Was hoping to get it down to $200 before buying back in, so it looks like I missed this dip.

Are you using Coinbase? Mine is still pending from a May 23rd transfer via my Capital One bank account.

Yep, on Coinbase. Initiated the purchase the morning of the 25th, money was debited from my account on the 30th, and the ETH dropped in today.

If you're still waiting, I'd reach out to somebody at Coinbase. Could be your bank dragging their feet though.

ETH is running flat for the last few hours here.

Yep, and I'm getting antsy. I've been sitting on some cash since Tuesday morning, waiting for some kind of dip to happen. We seem to have stabilized a bit, and I'm not sure when I'll throw more cash into this project, but I'm getting anxious.

Edit: On the upside, the ETH from my May 25th purchase (via bank account) finally deposited into my wallet today, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. It's small beans, but at least it's not pending anymore

I don't see a USD wallet on Coinbase.

On the website, go to the "Accounts" tab near the top of the screen. You should have a wallet for BTC, ETH, LTC, and USD. Just click the USD wallet and you can deposit money directly into it without buying crypto.

On the app, it should be your last wallet below LTC in the menu portion of the app.
