How can you possibly value these currencies? How do you or anyone decide to exit? I can't see these things as anything other than a pure speculative vehicle at this point. I don't think they are going away or anything but this appears to be CLASSIC FOMO mania. Just don't be the last guy holding the bag

there is definitely a bubble but even with a crash, a buy-and-hold position on ethereum could end up being very lucrative if its applications start getting incorporated into industry like it's hyped up to
I agree that it's a bubble to the extent that a crash wouldn't come close to a total loss. My rationale here is supported (in my own mind) by the outside investment of these bigger companies.

Can you buy on coinbase with a prepaid Visa card? I'm hesitant to give my account numbers to someone or something that I know nothing about

Coinbase is a US company that is regulated by the feds (like a bank, iirc). you're safe (that's why it's one of the more expensive options)

If news leaks of one of these outside companies actually implementing the platform for use, the price could skyrocket overnight

Coinbase won't let me link a frickin bank account. Says I've made too many attempts even though I've never tried before. I think the site just can't handle the traffic
I'll be in for $1000 once I get my payment method set up

i've bought $1k within the last hour
i have a CC set up and have used CB for about 9 months so i am not having any issues
i don't have my bank linked as of now (i've only bought BTC as currency to use as currency so no need to withdraw)

I'm really thinking about dumping my savings in here. This could be one of those things that makes you want to kill yourself if you didn't max out early

Setting up with CB is annoying af.
Kraken took forever.
Poloniex is another option but I haven't used it.

As another user pointed out, should I be waiting to buy in again when the spike comes down? I'm in for 1g right now

Here's my rational: I've made some pretty significant money since getting in mostly >$80. Yeah, I'd have a nice return today and be happy.
But I'd rather gamble for the long haul. I know the risk of losing it all, but I guess I'm thankful I'm not in a position I'd have to rely on that initial investment.
Long story short: I'm hoping it goes $2-3000k+ within 2-3 years. And I'll gamble by holding hoping for just that.

Man it's tough to say. This thing has been all over the place. It dipped to $83 within the last 2 weeks and I snagged more.
I should have bought more >$120 but was extremely busy last week and just didn't have the time.
If it dips below $150 I'll buy more. And who knows if it plateaus at the current value down the line maybe I'll buy more at the rate too.

Yeah, calm down man. Eth may be a great investment, but don't react emotionally to this most recent rally. Crypto falls just as fast as it rises.

Yeah I wouldn't do that.
View it as a gamble and what can you absolutely comfortably lose. Anything above that is not worth it to me.

Such is the downside of trading something with no intrinsic value.
